How do you dry?

I wet trim completely and throw the buds on a drying rack in a 2x4 tent but idk what i'm doing wrong that I get dry crispy buds. What temps/humidity do you use and when to jar? if you jar

Try drying in a cardboard box, works well at slowing the dry down, cut holes for airflow

Im of the opinion that shit week always overdries, my worst weed is a bit crispy however my best grinds to a fine particulate but forms a small dense bud when squashed not a particulate or crumbles to dust.

Be carefull not to force dry, apply heat wind or too humid or dry within a tolerance, each affects the other. There is no reason to complicate it just find the best spot in a room in your house and forever you will have dried bud.

I like to dry trim now. Ime a longer drying time produces much better quality weed. Keeping the leaves on helps it dry slower. My best weed comes from drying in the basement in the winter. Temps and rh are both 50-60, leave it down there for 10-14 days and it always comes out great.

i'm using maxibloom dry powder. pretty sure it's from not keeping consistent humidity but ok

Ah but have you tried it our way by simply hanging for two weeks in the right spot?

Most here seem not to but yet tout their own personal way when we could just simplify everything

Well I hang in the box. As I always have different strains in the cab. So whatever is ready first goes in the box. I have done it the regular way of hanging in the right spot. But it seems to work much better with the cardboard for me anyways.

Buy a wardrobe box from Uhaul. Double wall cardboard. Indestructible. Use the bar to hang the entire plant untrimmed. Including most fan leaves. A hole in the bottom for passive air intake. A second hole at the top with a PC fan exhausting. Watch the humidity.

Yeah don't over-complicate it. From my experience, how you dry is not as important as when you jar and keeping an eye on humidity in the jars... Most importantly, don't dry too fast, and don't jar too soon. And calibrate your hygrometers that go in the jars... Get it down to 64-65 in the jar with the lid closed... Oh, and no amount of proper dying / curing will fix larfy buds that weren't grown right to begin with. These will dry really super fast anyway...

Oh, and I differ from a lot of people in that I hang upside down the entire plant for a day or two only, then cut off individual parts/colas that I just hang in my closet for a couple of days. Then when things are just starting to feel like they are getting dry, I chop into smaller branches and buds, sometimes even go ahead and trim off all the buds into the final form if the buds are smaller and drying quicker. Just gotta get to that point where they are starting to feel crunchy on the outside, but still very wet on the inside. And then I dry in open jars for a few days, and eventually start closing the jars longer and longer, just watching humidity. So I mostly do this sort of gradual drying process until the humidity is right in the jars. I could go a lot slower probably, but haven't noticed a huge difference compared to just letting the whole plant dry for a week or longer...

I usually only go quicker this way because I have to and didn't plan right Also I tend to overdry if I just leave the whole plant for some reason, probably because I don't have my eye on it as closely.

Too many times I've had the unpleasant task of pointing out the mold in their weed. If you do it right, know what you're doing, and want to spend the time, then it is some damn good tasting weed. I dry mine slowly until it's ready to smoke then put it in jars with the lids off for a couple days. Close it up and call it good. I know some are appalled at my cavalier attitude but that's how I roll.

Ya that use to be the info here, i didnt learn to dry anywhere else but riu years ago.

I severely question thecinfo most give, s'why its hit and miss cause they moisture levels mold freaking loves.

Our way isnt hit and miss but because its simple no one will ever believe it. Running to the shop now for humidifier, hygrometer, boveda and mason jars so their next thread can be "Why does my weed taste funny"...

Last grow dried in October where I am weather wise everything was perfect so barely needed to adjust RH or temp. Went 10 days to dry. And yeah I jar. Just dipping into a jar of White Rhino after 4 months that shit is on point.

I'm not knocking the cure. If it's done right it could very well be better than what I'm doing. But what I end up with is good enough for me. I'm not coughing a lung out and it tastes good. Would it be even better if I cured it? Possibly. I'm happy with what I end up with. No complaints from anyone. Just compliments.

I have noticed a difference in the smoothness based on time of year. During the spring, winter, and fall I'm able to dry slower at a cooler temperature. That weed always tastes better. I'm trying to time things so I'm not trying to dry in the middle of August when it's 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

I use a 2x4x5 dedicated tent with a small exhaust and intake fan, as well as fans moving air inside. I have a humidifier and keep it at 62%

By day 5 the stems snap just the right amount, perfect every time

Cut bottom of plant.
Prune into V like bits. Remove majority of fan leaves.
Hang on clothes hangers and place into a small drying tent with circulatory fan, small exhaust fan, passive intake and carbon filter.
Takes on avg 12ish days to dry.
Place in jars containing hygrometer.
Check reading 24 hrs later. Don't be afraid to take them back out and paper bag them if it reads 70%RH or up. (they can jump a fair bit in the first sweat)
When it sits 60 to 67% RH over a 24 hr period through in some Bovedas and store away. Feel free to exchange the air once a week for awhile if you want to.
