How to grow HARD hitting weed?

I know this may seem like an odd question lol, but if I don't cough, I don't get high as ****. I want to grow stuff that I love, felt my first plant was a waste :(, although fun lol. I'm curious if it's because of one of the following reasons: didn't let it grow long enough, cure, lights, flush, strain, hermi (with only a few seeds) or perhaps synthetic vs. organics or indoor vs. out?
A few things made me think it's the way I cured it or that I didn't grow it long enough. 1st off I just recently had an OG kush like this, which is a first (it's my favorite strain) and it wasn't light/fluffy weed you apparently always get with weak lights. 2nd, Although only had this in 2 joints I'm sure 1 day this will happen when I buy an ounce, it tasted like STRAIGHT chemicals. Made me question if it wasn't flushed, but it felt like something else lol, especially since I know so many say don't flush along with you must flush, so figured it wouldn't be this bad then.
I do think I left my first plant around 10 weeks in flower before I chopped (would need to look at my notes to be sure, it was bag seed, but I always aim for indica/hybrids). Also, I cured it how Grateful Grower on youtube did it (although mine dried a bit sooner but not crazy fast). Hung for about 4 days after trimming, in jar with lid closed for a full day or 2 for the first week and every other day for 2nd week, with leaving the lid off for like a minute giver take. Saw in the green house seed company videos that you should leave it for like 4-8 months after chopping.
Sorry for the amount of text, just wanted to make everything clear on why I'm confused lol. Thanks in advance :).

Firstly most advice you new growers follow is bogus and secondly your suckers for bad advice meaning halfwits can come across as ganga gods and never be short of followers.

Even if you did grow dank ass bud you just kill.it in the dry and cure, rarely do i see anyone who knows how it should be done :-)

Most people try and grow weed that doesn't make them cough and leave their lungs on the floor. You're the first that I've seen wanting to. :bigjoint:

As for putting wet weed in jars and leaving for a day or two sounds like a recipe for mold. I also completely reject the concept of leaving weed for 4-8 months after harvest. I could care less what greenhouse says in their videos. In fact I don't watch any youtube videos about growing cannabis. I have in the past but most are just infomercials selling products.

I smoke my weed as soon as it's dry and I don't put in jars until it is and is safe from molding. I don't have time to be burping jars, playing with hygrometers, boveda packs, etc... My weed is smooth and tasty. And when a harvest is sometimes 16 ounces there is no way I'm buying 16 hygrometers and then fiddling around with 16 jars of weed.

But others have the time and it works for them. As long as the end result is good weed you want to smoke and people compliment you on that's all that really matters. Now it's time for a bong hit of a Panama/PCK cross I made. bongsmilie

There is a whole section of pinned threads in the newbie section. I'd start there.

The whole reason you cough when you smoke is your buying 4 day dried dealer weed, no cure just pure chlorophyll goodness lol. The cure you spoke of is probably the worst I ve heard ever and that guy needs to be banned lol.
Never i mean ever put dried weed in a jar for 2 days without burping ever you will get mold almost every time sounds like you were either too dry or some other miracle happened.go to the curing threads here and have a read theres some really good info.

lol ya I know eh, when I tried researching this on google, everything was about how to grow weed that doesn't make you cough haha. As fopr the jar method, the first time you put it in jar and reopen, depends how wet it was he said, mine was just fairly dry before the jar. Also, this is first I've heard about putting a hygrometer in the jar, I did not lol.

Genetics. It all starts there.

Don't harvest early, common mistake.
Like I said it happened with OG Kush. As we all know though, it could have been a mistake but it didn't seem like it. This was at a dispensary. I know there's other way's of knowing, but I didn't have the microscope to check trichomes. This was taken on a very bad phone, but this is a picture of before I chopped my very first plant ever.

I grew Dinafem OG Kush and it was like dense golf ball buds. The high was damn near hallucinogenic too, pretty strong. I was legit starting to think I was hearing voices coming from my fan noise in the room lol

I also cough the first hit of the day almost every time. After that I don't cough. Kinda like that one cough as it gets me in the mood lol

Even though those pictures won't win any awards they are good enough to tell that you harvested too soon. Needed another two weeks.

I'm new but I've found a couple strains that I prefer. I've only found a couple phenos I would call extreme. One was an i95xstardog cross. It is very speedy/euphoric. I do have some seeds from it but I didn't sample it before chop. My mistake. I have several going for the next round of that i-95 star cross as well as the cross I made. It was so good I'd have to put it down and close my eyes. Roller coaster. I've found since I supply my own I don't need to cough to get off as we used to say many years ago. Here is the ash from papaya that was chopped 3 days ago no cure. Just dry enough to smoke if ground. Very smooth and very good. But not i-95. I'm still hunting.

Those lights are the problem at least use some reflective material so most of the light can hit the plants.

My views.
Proper dry is the main key.
Curing is a huge help.
Ageing helps a fair bit and I consider separate from the curing. Ageing can, for whatever reason turn a decent product into something much more interesting.

There are shortcuts in Curing but there isn't on the others.

I laced all the walls with tin foil lol. I know a reflector just above the light would be great, but I'm working on improving my setup here and there so I will eventually. I know tin foil isn't the best option apparently, but I figured since I'm using weaker lights, the tin foil would reflect it better. My plants have touched the tin foil, never burned. Thanks everyone too, obviously can't reply to everyone's comment lol. Still feel I don't have a guaranteed answer on why :(. Best bet it seems is to experiment with the curing & drying process.

Tinfoil dosent disperse the light and reflected beams are not like an even light saturation.

Whereas tin foil would make a good light reflector simple things like white paint or paper or jyst a buck a meter mylar will be a lot better for your walls.
