I know what the lights actually draw , all of the specifications of them.

And using them as a heat light I have no idea what your talking about cause mine put off nearly no heat

They put out nearly no heat? Any device consuming electric power puts out heat, 1 watt = 3.42 BTU.

ALL lights put out 3.42 BTU per watt, but lights with higher efficacy use less power to produce the same amount of light, less power = less heat.

That is my understanding too. had it explained to me buy a COB led company. said 1000watts of of LED produce the same BTUs as a 1000watt hps. just not that radiant surface of a object heating kind. if that makes any scene

COBs and Boards make more usable light per watt. So for same amount of light produced they do make less heat. And with a much better spectrum!

True. They both produce the same BTU, it's just that HPS gives off some of it's heat as IR radiant heat.

I dont know.. but I can say I have my Amare SE 300 running for 2 weeks now (or 1 ) the technology is:

• 4 x Top-bin CREE CXB3070 or Citizen CLU-058 Chip On Board (COB) LEDs
• 40 x 5-watt supplemental CREE XP-G2/XP-E2 LEDs (10 per module)

and it makes more heat than the ViparSpectra 600 Reflector but uses about the same Watts.
It also makes much brighter light.

I do not think it is true as a 1000W HPS probably consumes 1000W of electricity while a 1000W COB will be half of it most likely.

I’m not talking about cheap LEDs that advertise “1000watt equivalent” bullshit. True watt leds. Watt for Watt at the wall produce the same Btu’s.
