Question about wind.

Ok so I started 1 new plant that I'm going to attempt to grow outdoors. It is 16 days old and I have it in a 2.5 gallon pot. Up until today everything has been going fine however yesterday and today have been very windy. I was curious to whether I should be pulling this plant inside until the winds die down or if they will be ok. One thing that worries me is that 1 of the bigger fan leaves is pointing upward and the other fan leaf is directed toward the ground. Last night I put a little stick in the soil and tied it to the plant for support. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated on what I should do :bigjoint:

wind should be fine. It will make the plant grow stronger. Good idea on the stick though. Use that until it has a very strong main stem and you should be fine. Good luck

Ya it makes sense that wind would make it stronger i was just worried because it was flapping around pretty bad since the stem is not developed enough. The stick also helped significantly. I brought it inside last night because the one fan leaf was not looking very well. Woke up this morning and it is looking nice and strong. Thanks for your input much appreciated

I'd say if ur plannin on growin it outside, then let be in the wind. It's get a nice strong stalk from it and lots of fresh air. Maybe take it in on the really windy days, but dont baby it too much :bigjoint:

Um, if you keep it tied to a stick, how will the main stalk strengthen up? It must be stressed by the wind in order to grow that strength. Otherwise you're going to need to keep it tied to the stick. Let the wind blow through the plant, it will respond appropriately.

No I know. I was just using the stick to serve a temporary purpose until the winds died down

For sure, but you also dont want the stem to break in its initial adaptation to the wind bro. Hence the stick. The wind will make the plant release a hormone to sturdy up the stems. But that takes a bit of time.
