What are the benefits of using mbe? Does it only benefit an amended soil or can it be used in other mediums like straight pro mix? I was told this could replace molasses to feed the bennies but with other benefits. Any info is greatly appreciated.

If you use crustacean meal or insect frass, it accelerates the breakdown of Chitin via Chitanase. Also speeds up reproduction rates of the microbes, but I'm drawing a blank on the "why" for that...

cheap and easy to use carbon source, takes a lot less energy for the cell to break down sugars than large organic molecules :) . They prefer to use it when it's present. Most bacterial species that are organotrophs will deviate from their usual way of making a living when things like glucose (and other forms like MBE) are present in the environment.

All malted grains not just barley are a great source of Amino acids and enzymes
