advice based on photo

Obviously a newbie, but slowly gaining knowledge
it was a freebie autoflower i got with a seed buy
party cup 10/29
3 gal pot 11/3
5 gal pot 12/17
Optic LED Optic 4 COB LED Grow Light 415W (UV/IR) at about 18" away
68-72 degrees 48-52 rh

Had some issues early, as usual, but she came out of it pretty good, I'm sure it's way behind schedule being an auto but gonna ride it out, see what we get. I have not been giving it any added nutes, just letting the soil feed it with proper pH water every few days as the dry soil dictates. I am on 12/12 light.

So, based on the pic i got the the hooks on the new growth, and this morning on older growth along with dead/dying spots, tips. etc. and from all the reading it would elude to nitrogen toxicity. But as any other newbie will concur, you end up just reading yourself into circles not really know what to do!
So this AM, obviously has gotten worse so I just flushed with 15 gal of pH water at about 5.8-6.0.

Would any pro care to take a look at the pic and tell me what they see as issues and give me some pointers. Remember I am on a journey here, learning, taking it all in, as I always say, you learn what to do just like you learn what not to do, always learning. This grow process is not easy, but what "it" is, is a mystery. I feel like I'm chasing a ghost. Thank you for any help I really appreciate it.

I can’t really help too much, though you might want to give some further details on the ingredients of your medium.

Also, your leaves are pointing upwards which often means it’s getting too much light!

Your plant is really dark green, which would also suggest excess N, along with the hooking leaves.

Just went down to get pics, very shocked, few hours ago flushed it, first pic is the result, other pics of leaves, soil, setup, etc. man, growing is not even close to a relaxing endeavor lol
as far as light, the light has cob and uv lights, do i use the uv lights now or at the end only? you see lots of pics with the tent showing purple, red, blue, etc and based on the plant size it looks like they should be on. i did move it back up to max which is about 36" (makes me wonder what i'm going to do if it ever gets really tall)

UV light are for tricome production so take that out until you've got buds....it'll get relaxing once you're dialed in.

2 questions: Why did you feel you needed to flush it, and why with such a low ph?

Watering issue , you're getting a lock out. That's just my diagnosis I am no pro so wait till someone else gives you a second opinion.

this is an auto, i feel very under the clock, this girl is small given its been growing for 8 weeks. it says 100 day cycle for the strain, so i feel like its way behind

i read the pH is 6.0 maybe it is incorrect. you see 5.5, 5.8, 6.0, ff chart comes with it's own suggestions, hahah i really don't know what it is supposed to be i guess

If it were me, I would start over, it looks and sounds like your plant is severely stunted. Autoflowering plants do not like to be transplanted, that's pretty much Rule #1 when growing them. They need to be started in their permanent home. And 5 gallons of soil is a little much for a regular auto, it'd be ok for a super-auto, 3 gallons would be the most I'd use.

another reason i flushed it was it had been so many weeks and the ff chart also has several flushes built into the schedule, as well as many videos, other forums, how too's, etc. while i am not giving any extra nutes, given that i also thought it was nit tox (and i was quite proud to see it here that i was possibly able to get one right) i figured a flush was in order given it says give less as a solution. i wish i had grown up in the 60's!

Yeah I was considering that he could have damaged something while he transplanted but I think youre on point there, I've never planted autos so my knowledge is limited. I'd start a new plant however let this one ride, your set up has room for expansion.


N toxicity looks like this, see how dark the leaves are? I used blood meal thats really potent.

Ok, forget about the flush for now

PH in Fox Farm should always be 6.5 on the button, just my opinion but I think you'll find it gives best results

I would advise you adjust your light cycle to 18/6 for autos. Maybe someone with LED experience can advise you to lower the light some? Please ask before you do it though

I think whats going on rests with the undefined "issues" you had earlier, maybe you should go into them some because they've obviously stunted the plant and are still affecting it

And I don't think I've ever said this but whereas it's an Auto I kind of agree with the consensus that maybe you should chuck it and start again? Either way best of luck

Edit: And just for reference I found particularly once you start feeding foxfarm can become acidic rather than alkaline, so never flush with water that's not at least 6.5, I might water at 6.8 a couple times to negate it?

Also the freebie Autos I've grown I've transplanted twice, topped once and have treated them basically the same as photos, and they've yielded very well for me, with no related issues

ok i will raise the ph to 6.5 moving forward. i intend to just let it ride see what happens. i will start another grow and learn learn learn! hahah !!! (read with insane ferocity!)

previous issues where related to hot soil, which was a reoccurring theme in my short grow experiences. out of 19 seeds only 3 have ever gotten past the rooter, this being 1 of the 3. it was like the second the tap touched the real soil (ffof and emerald forest in pic) it would die in 2 days. i will be using a seedling soil for the next grow attempt. try try again.

i did want to note to all the readers and helpers and newbs and pros, take into consideration your location and accessibility to seeds. as well as the cost of each seed. i have a suspicion seed prices have jumped astronomically (at least for my situation) since the current US revolution we are enjoying now. but, you still have to buy them, have them delivered to your door (butt hole puckered), and at $5-$10 A SEED they are gold to us vigilante farmers who can't walk down to the bank and get them cheap, easy, and "approved" by the man. the result is every seed that goes in the soil is like the last seed on earth and you really want it to be successful. i am in it for the haul, at 2k in now it isn't about the money, it isn't about supplying anyone but myself, it is about cracking this nut. you always here "it's a weed, it'll grow" or "leave it alone it'll grow". i can tell you it isn't that easy. if you really break it all down, every aspect, every variable, a LOT can go wrong it seems. i have 39 seeds in hand ready to try again.10 green crack, 9 lsd,10 chem dawg and freebe 10 gold leaf all of which are fem but not auto. (1 seed had a tap when it arrived, tried to revive but she never grew)

i am about to hop a damn plane to colorado and go thru some grow courses, live out there for a month, i am fortunate enough i get to work from anywhere i want. might be a nice break from the failed grow side to soak up some knowledge in the ol classroom setting! get some A's on a few "pot" quizzes haha. to all you naturals out there i am very very jealous, i hate not being able to do something, or figure it out, but, i will prevail!

I'm not familiar with Emerald soil however, I've lost just one seedling in Fox Farm and have had just one other seedling struggle out of all that I've started in the last three years, so I would suggest that it's not hot soil giving you issues

Consider starting a grow journal and go step by step so it's easy to follow and see where things might be going off track?

Edit: so I don't usually read long things particularly without mucho paragraph breaks because I have the attention span of a gnat and declining vision but I saw where you were all in for big money so why don't you consider starting that journal, you'll work it out it takes time but you're doing something wrong that I'm not seeing from what you're telling us so far

In the meantime growweedeasy.com, ilgm.com, both good places to read Royal Queen seeds have some good information you might check out Nirvana seeds information for starters. I'm not saying or assuming you haven't read up, I'm just making some suggestions of websites that might help

Also what do you mean one seed had a tap when it arrived I've never seen that how could that happen if the seed wasn't wetted? Where are you getting your seeds where did you get a seed that arrived with a Taproot if I may ask thanks

I will take another look at the sites you mentioned. a youtube channel I am trying to follow is NVclosetmedgrower he seems to make to look pretty easy and straight forward. I may try and get the setup out of the basement, move it to a spare bedroom. Basement might be creating issues I just don't see. Temps or humidity. Something.

My last seed order was $330, first one was $200. $1k for tent kit, $500 for the light. plus lots of other stuff, nutes, soil, T5 light for the babies, man that list adds up! I am just curious, are supply places taking advantage of the boom + newbs = BIG CASH. Rightfully so I guess, and I am willing to pay to play obviously.

No not big money probably average for 2 tent set-up with fixins

Maybe somebody else is seeing what you're doing wrong but I'm not yet, but that seed thing makes me wonder what kind of seed you got going on there, maybe it's not you?

And since you're asking about fancy products basically my recommendation is stop buying everything: start using Basics w/ just the basics like foxfarm or gh 3 part nutrients and follow the label for Simplicity ( by using the more common products you'll get much more response and have a lot more info to glean from then the more obscure products )

get decent pH & meter PPM meters, reassess your lighting, I don't know what you're using but you should consider lowering it but talk to LED people about that first I can't help you there

I'll reread everything later and try to figure out what's going wrong for you but I've never heard of a seed arriving with a Tap Root? Really wanma know where you got these seeds from? And yes I'm casting a suspicious eye upon your seeds
