Flower prices falling

That's like I said all along, the consumer is gong to lower his standards and be happy with mid grade weed. People won't pay more for quality if they don't know any better. The money will be in mid grade outdoor weed that requires little labor and expense. The outdoor mid grade will be a commodity bought by companies making edibles and extracts.

Much of the 825,000 pounds of weed sitting in inventory in Oregon is high grade pot. Just because it's grown outdoors doesn't mean it's "shitty" weed. Much of it is extremely good.

Much of the money being made is by nutrient companies selling $20 bottles of nutrients consisting of a few pennies worth of chemicals salts diluted with water to the latest generation of indoor growers that think growing pot is rocket science and need a dozen or more bottles to grow weed. There is also a bunch of money being made by pollen chuckers selling seeds for $10 a piece. Then there are the lighting companies selling $1500 setups or the hydro systems being sold for $600 consisting of a few buckets, pumps and plastic tubing. The support industry has become a joke with snake oil salesman around every corner.

The price of weed is plummeting and nothing is going to stop that. Some may think that they are excellent growers and that there will always be a market for their high priced so called "High Quality" bud. Maybe so but that market is shrinking rapidly and will continue to do so. Growing high quality weed is not hard. It can be done on a large scale and it can be done outdoors. It doesn't take the latest LED, most hyped nutrient, or latest strain to grow high quality weed. I was smoking dank back in the seventies and eighties. Before all this ridiculous marketing hype cause those without any knowledge of growing anything to drink the koolaid and hand over their cash to every Tom, Dick, and Harry making fantastic but unrealistic claims for their products.
 
Ill always grow my own product to smoke personally. Only then can I be assured that it's clean and doesn't contain any fungicides or pesticides.

It's already tested. In Oregon the weed and products used to grow weed are tested. Oregon has an extensive list of banned products. Many of those banned products are products people on this site use. Most are banned because of ingredients not listed on the label. In Oregon you have to list ingredients and they do test. In other places companies are free to put all kinds of unlisted ingredients in products for sale. Weed from dispensaries in Oregon has been tested and is cleaner than much of what many people on this site are harvesting. I've read posts on this site where people are spraying all kinds of crap on their plants well into flower to control bugs, powdery mildew, etc... I would never smoke that weed.

I'm not saying home growers will be millionaires, but there are ways to compete. Especially if you make edibles and cartiges. Buddy of mine does that and makes a good living.

There is no top shelf in Portland selling for $350. Anyone paying that is out of their mind and any dispensary selling it for that price won't have any customers and will go out of business. There is top shelf being sold for under $200.

That's still a reasonable price if you consider what it costs to grow, IMO

Where did you look? If it was a website that aggregates prices then those figures are always and have always been off. I looked as well and I also live within walking distance of almost 20 dispensaries. Most have online menus. The highest I found looking at four or five was $270 for guess what, Panama. Not some latest and greatest super dooper triple Silver berry sorbet Kush. Just straight Panama sativa. I also found Grape Crush $140, StarDawg OG $120, God bud $160, Strawberry Cough $210. Prices are all over the map. Many times there are specials so the price listed on the website could be completely wrong. I hear of half price specials frequently.

There are hundreds of dispensaries in Portland. Plenty of them have top shelf ounces for under $200. Prices are higher at some places but there are plenty of places with under $200 ounces.

I also think the term "Top Shelf" is rather vague. I've smoked weed that friends payed less than $100 an ounce for and I can guarantee it was probably better than what a good percentage of people on this site grow with their expensive lights and twenty bottles of overpriced nutrients. Top shelf is very subjective. I've gotten good and high off of $100 ounces that looked and tasted just fine. I don't buy from dispensaries because I grow my own but I know many people that have quit growing and now just head down to the dispensary because they don't want to hassle with growing and it's just as cheap for them to buy it.

I'm sure the actual numbers are much higher. I'm actually surprised at how much is in the system. The prices have nowhere to go but down.

Almost all the product is contaminated the worthy product is sold in shops even that is contaminate by 40% by test results even though they have crazy regulations

Where the hell are you getting your information? Have any actual data to back up your claim? Or a reliable source? And what's it supposedly contaminated with?

Interesting that you make this claim because marijuana growers are already concerned about pesticide drift from neighboring farms.
