Homemade oil for my vape pen

Cool, I’m going to try natural batch first. Probably add some terps batch two. I got the fogg couch lock collection with lemon kush, blue dream, jack herer and one other.

I figure a proper wash should pull some decent flavors.
The flavor isn't terrible without, terps just make it taste like weed. I've been warned a few times not to put too much terps, I haven't yet, but I can imagine it's overwhelming. At the most I'm putting 10-11 drops per ml.

Decent info on terp boiling points etc. kinda like the idea of a odorless semi tasteless option too.

good info...

but removing terpenes without degrading THC isn't easy. i've heard it's low temp long time distillation...... like you don't boil the terpenes off. if you get to that temp you degrade the THC..... the mixture is heated up to a lower temp for a looooong time and they evaporate but don't just flash boil off...

I don't know too much about it that's why I haven't tried it yet.

Tasteless, odorless, flavorless = distillate

When you run extract thru a short path, your removing fractions at different temps while pulling a deep deep vacuum. Under 100 micron is ideal and what we shoot for. Even lower is what we actually want to achieve. Lowest possible vac, means you can fraction at a lower temp and lessen isomeration od your extract.

Solid. Need a vac then.

If you want to run a short path distillation run, you need quite a bit of equipment.

Short path distillation setup
(All needed glass, heat/stir mantle)
Vacuum gauge, temp gauges, vac lines, heater/chiller recirculator, coolant lines, poly coolant, distilled h20, and a vacuum pump capable of reaching a minimum of 100 micron, preferable able to reach 5 micron, vacuum rail, vacuum release valve, heat gun, crude (extract to run in the system -crappy bho, iso/etoh extract).

Then knowing what your actually doing so you dont ruin all your crude extract.

It's not a simple easy process. If it were, everyone would be doing it . And it's not cheap either. Better have deep pockets. The SPD list above will run you around 5000.00. W/o knowing how to even run the system and at what points each fraction is done and ready for the next fraction.

I've been pressing my own rosin for a while with my nugsmasher, but when I try to make e juice at a 2 to1 ratio with wax liquidizer I'm running into problems with my pods, Any chance someone could tell me how to winterize rosin or throw a link up....thanks in advance!

Winterizing tek

Add 1:10 (thc to ethanol)
Put in freezer for 1-2 days
You should see that lipid/wax later in the Mason jar.
Filter thru 2x brown coffee filters
Evap off ethanol
Purge remaining ethanol in vac oven
Scrape up, add whatever you use to thin out extract for carts.
Load into cart

What vac oven/setup would you recommend for a small hobby grower?

I'm in the same boat...need to winterize after my nugsmasher press

I don't winterize my rosin....well I have once or twice to see if I could tell a difference when when using it for vape oil. I winterize my qwet and qwizo runs tho. Mainly to ensure I've ridded the extract of solvent used. The removal of fat, waxes and lipids is just an added benefit(?) With some terpene and taste loss.
I enjoy rosin in it's raw form.

Amen to that, love the taste of rosin. I've been thinking about getting a vacuum purge, but right now it's one of them "too many irons in the fire" deals. Maybe I'll let you guys work the bugs out, and reap the rewards without the labor pains. ;-)

lol...I feel ya bro. My sentiments exactly. Only reason I asked is because I'm curious to know if it's worth it. I've been doing fine doing my qwet and qwiso runs low and slow.
Rosin is near and dear to me..lol. Qwet and Qwiso get turned into vape oil, edibles etc.
I'm with you, let the braniacs with deep pockets figure out all the nuances and reap the rewards.
I don't mind standing on the shoulders of giants to get a better view.:eyesmoke:

Yeah I know, I just don't have a full understanding yet. But I don't think it's going to be that complicated once it's laid it in front of me. At least we're not buying weed to experiment with. Lol

Here's a vacuum chamber on amazon. They offer a vac pump and oil as a package for $168 total..
I use my 3 gal, with a sticky heating pad for finishing my winterized hbo.. I evaporate all the alcohol i can before applying any vacuum because solvent will soon kill cheap pumps when pumped through them...
These vac chambers are useful for many things.. I also use mine for degassing resins, and metal casting plaster..
