Trump wants a "Liberal World Order"

But they got the guns, and are happy to use them.
It's gonna get bloody
They aren't the only ones with guns. I don't think the Europe of 2020 is much like the Europe of 1920 when fascism took over major European powers.

That said, I agree that the next 6 years are going to see a world wide rise in nationalist terrorism and violence. We are seeing it here too. The thing is, they are a minority and can only win if they can defeat the electoral system. Not saying they aren't trying. Yes they accomplished the feat in 2016 but not in 2018 and not in 2020. Rather than a fascist power grab, Trump and white supremacist nationalists are beginning their bloody retribution for the majority rejecting them. They are the kind of assholes that shoot their girlfriend for giving them the cold shoulder. About as rational as well.

France is dealing with frustration over yet more taxation in an already high tax nation. Idiot Blaze has missed the boat if he thinks the yellow vest movement is about his brand of right wing nationalism. That protest movement is more about Macron turning a tin ear to objections over a rise in already high gasoline taxes. He got too far ahead of the public in that one. He's backtracking fast. He may or may not survive politically but democracy in France as well as social liberal attitudes there are not moving to the right.

Ya know,

Liberals greatly outnumber the fascists here and in Europe

The blue wave isn't just a US thing.
Yeah, but the scary thing is that lately when I read and listen to the news about Germany, commentators refer to the rival party of the CDU as the AfD. Historically, the SPD (in relative terms, our democrats, though much more like our progressive Democrats in policy) was always the rival of the CDU (roughly analogous in relative terms to the Republicans though they are much more like our moderate Democrats in policy). Now the SPD has withered badly nd is, for the time being, quite irrelevant (but, of course, our "Progressives" would claim that there is a massive majority of those who support them despite the fact that they lost over ten percent in the last few state elections. American Progressives don't have such a good grasp on reality.) This leaves the AfD, or Alternative For Germany as the number two party. They are the hard right, fascist, anti-immigrant party that pretty much perfectly lines up with the new Republican/Trump movement here. Even though they may lag behind the SPD in number of Bundestag seats, the trend of them gaining more than ten percent while the SPD has lost ten percent presents a pretty clear picture of the way German voters are feeling. And now Merkel is stepping down. Germany could go either way.

If there is a blue wave in Germany or Europe overall, I have yet to see it. Poland is the only sign I have seen of it where voters in local elections pounded the shit out of the far right that they had recently put in power. Hungary has gone to the dark side and this week succeeded in pushing Soros' University out of the country. This is the first time a University has been shuttered and banned by a European nation since the Nazi era. And now there is great unrest in France which could easily grow into something very dangerous. Chaos and street fighting feed the right rather well. Meanwhile, the slow motion disaster of Brexit is coming to a close. Unless some sort of hail-Mary stops it and reverses it entirely, the chaos this will cause will almost certainly benefit the right.

Even the fucking Canadians have gotten in on the act by electing that total asshole to govern Ontario.

If I were writing a script for the takeover of fascist and totalitarian forces over democratic ones, I could scarcely think of one better than the current global situation - until our mid-terms.

Still, I think it will be alright. Stupid people are outnumbered.

Fascism took over in the 30's, not the 20's (for the most part. There were some fascist or totalitarian governments in the immediate post war era). The 20's were more of an era of opportunity for liberal democracies which did not go so well. In conjunction with the Great Depression, it is characterized by stagnant opportunity, high inflation, high unemployment and growing fear and uncertainty caused by increased violence in the streets - the last of which was especially seized upon and exacerbated by the fascists.

The yellow vest movement is in no way a right wing movement but it says volumes about the internal pressures in France that could be harnessed by the right. It could, in part, happen similarly to the way trailer park dwellers here went from traditional Democratic support to fervid and rabid Trimp support. Another aspect of it that plays into the right's hands is social disorder. People who are frightened and threatened or just plain sick of strikes, riots, shortages and overall chaos, often turn their vote to the right.

This isn't good. It shows that people are losing faith in liberal democracies to solve their very real problems. The chicanery being sponsored by Putin goes a long way to undermining this faith on the right and left. This is why idiots like Tty and the Padawan are just as much the symptom as Trimp is.

We get it, you're gay. Welcome new gay member. We support your lifestyle.

I'm not gay though so you will need to find somebody else who is and then see it they consent to letting you touch their penis.

It's complicated.

Hungary's Nazis have pretty much taken control of the elections and judiciary. I agree that they have gone over to the dark side. I also agree that the European right is making progress much like what happened between 2010 and 2016 in the US. This all a slow moving disaster. Still if the pattern is anything like what we have in the US, the majority in Europe will be reminded why right wing politics are odious and make it a thing of the past.

I say this as an interested and hopeful fan on the sidelines for Europe, just like most of Canada is for us.

Please reply with another nonsensical threat. You funny.
