So I bought a 1000w MH bulb and it had like white stuff and glue in it and it would turn off after 5mins, they replaced it with one with the same problem, and now they went through all their stock and gave me their (best looking MH bulb) as well as a free dual ark bulb, my question is does this dual ark look defected at all (especially the MH section) ?? It's my first time using these bulbs so I'm not sure how it's sepose to look exactly.. When I google it I see some MH bulbs with white stuff on either end and some without?

it looks ok to me, but it's hard totell from a picture. the glass is clear on any i've ever used, but the element can be white, light tan, kind of mottled....if it kicks off after 5 minutes....it sounds more like your ballast than your bulb.

I been running the hps for over a week 18hrs a day it's never switched off tho

hps is much more efficient than mh, a hps light will produce nearly twice as many lumens per watt than a mh. that inefficiency turns into heat, which may be causing your ballast to kick off. run the ballast with your hps in it for a while, then let it cool off, put the mh in it, and feel how hot it is after the same amount of time. if it seems a lot hotter, that's at the very least a contributing factor

Can you post your ballast? Some are made for mh, some are made for hps, some are made for both, some are digital, some are dimmable.
Some mh bulbs are conversion bulbs that can run in a hps ballast.
Which ballast do you have?

Do you do the whole grow with hps? Or you got a dual ark?
i've got two tents, and run an 8 bulb 4 foot T5 fixture for veg, too much problems venting another h.i.d. light, tried for a while and couldn't get it to draw equally from both hoods, as they weren't inline. the veg tent is closer to the outlet, and it would draw almost completely from there and ignore the flower tent. tried adapters and chokes, just a pain in the ass, so i put the MH away and got the T5 unit, which works great. i run 2 3000k bulbs and 6 6500k bulbs in it, the plants like the balance, grow well, don't stretch too much....

It’s your ballast mine like that one lasted a year and did that exact same thing. Magnetic is the way I go now
IV put new the latest MH in and it's going 100z no flicker or switching off, now I got 3 more bulbs to test, going to give them 20m each and see cause last time they would trip in 5min tops... I have changed the power source of the ballast so now it runs on its on power not sharing with fan or dehumifier , that may have been the cause

a fan shouldn't be a problem, ...maybe the humidifier, depends on how big it is. a 1k light on a 120 volt circuit takes 9 amps, i doubt your fan and humidifier together come anywhere close to 6 amps, that shouldn't have been a problem.
is it shutting your ballast down, or is it kicking the whole breaker off? if your breaker is kicking off, it's either bad, or there's more stuff on it than you're aware of. if it's kicking your ballast off....there's something very wrong

Is the mh a conversion bulb? it should state if it is.
I have a 600mh conversion bulb I run on a 600w ballast.
I have a 600mh bulb I run sometimes in a 1000w turned down to 600.
I cannot run the 600mh conversion bulb in the 1000w ballast dimmed to 600, but I can run the regular 600mh in it just fine.

Doesn't say it's a conversion one..
