When you say "liberate" you don't mean to drive out an oppressor and release them into a state of liberty.

What you really mean is take them away from one governments oppression and replace it with another governments.

I eagerly await your explanation of how a free and sovereign Hawaii was "annexed" by the USA in the 1890s.

Sacrificing a life to protect stolen land would be like a guy busting into your awesome greenhouse and running away with a boatload of primo weed. He makes it to the getaway car and tosses the weed inside to his buddies, just as you shoot him and he falls dead.

The getaway car speeds off and the guys inside burn a big ass joint to honor "the sacrifice" of the fallen comrade who stole your weed.
