My first grow, just looking for second opinions

I started this seed I found in some buds and she is now in the 4th week of flowering, I know she's not the prettiest, but keep in mind I have never done this before, going only off what I have read online and keeping in my budget. She's on Floraduo A&B (1:2) nutrients. I was looking for some outside opinions and things that I could do better. Thanks so much for looking!

Welcome to RIU!

You are doing great for your 1st grow.
Your plants appear small and I have to imagine it is your lights.
They have nice color so you are doing well with the light you have.
Your harvest will be very small this time but you will see improvement in the future as you improve your environment.

Get info here on RIU but also read some good books on growing.

If you don't have or can't get the books use growweedeasy.com

If you can get the books:

Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible
or
Marijuana Grower's Handbook by Ed Rosenthal

Agreed. Looks like you just don't have enough light.
Other than that you appear to have kept them healthy in spite of less than optimal conditions.

I can definitely get the books, thanks a lot for the information! It is definitely most likely the light, I went pretty cheap on it :wall: I appreciate the advice man, much love to ya!

I have no real option of grow space other than the closet at where I am currently living, so it is less than optimal I agree. I'm glad to hear others think she's looking healthy though, that's encouraging. Not too worried about total weight this time, moreso just to see if I could do it. Hopefully in the next year or so I can get me this plot of land I've had my eye on...

A closet is all that you need for a personal grow.

Have a good environment with good light, temps, humidity, air circulation and air ventilation and keep them green.

A 135 watt QB288 kit from HLG will crush whatever light you are currently using and won't produce a ton of heat.
Thanks so much! Gonna be investing in this here soon, seems really my light is the only thing holding me back. Cheers! All the advice is much appreciated

In a closet? Buy a T5HO fixture. Use it later to just veg.
I like this idea, as does my wallet. I appreciate it man
Edit: Actually question, if I were to go pick this up and switch out would changing the light mid grow affect the plant any? Or should I just hold off until the next one?

You can do entire grows under T5. Keep it close unlike LED or HPS/MH.
I had tops 8 to 12 inches from my QB last grow with little to no ill effects. I'd say thats pretty close. Besides, he is growing in a closet. Last time I checked most closets are not 4 feet tall.

Let me ask you this first because nobody else has and i don't see it your original post... what light are you currently using?

no offense to the poster, but those books are old AF and filled with misinformation. I would save the money and invest it into other things, like lights.

With the internet you shouldn't have to pay for information, but you will have to invest time.

You have far wiser heads in here giving advice Thani, but to me those plants look like they stretched more than they grew (haha, sorry for the bad word play) which is why everyone is saying get new lights.

I'm curious how long you had them in veg for.

All in all, for a first grow working with far less than ideal equipment, you should feel encouraged with your results. A lil more experience mixed with some upgraded equipment and I'm confident you'll see a huge improvement next round. Keep it up!

As embarassing as it is, I am using a 60W 120V plant light from Wally World, I am aware now that this is far less than optimal. I'm going to invest in that T5 fixture that was recommended, as Barry said this plant definitely stretched far more than she actually grew I believe.

Hey thanks man! This place definitely has some wise and willing folks here, gonna be sticking around. I had this plant in veg for about 8 weeks before I switched to flower. Is that enough time or should I have let her go a little longer? The closet I am working with has roughly 5.5' clearance in it. Watching these few buds start to fatten up is encouraging enough, and I shall be trying again. This time utilizing a far better light source and early LST and the like.

I've been using a 4 bulb 4ft T5HO for years as a veg light. Works great and produces very little heat. I use the 6500k bulbs for veg but have some 3500k as well.
