Hey everybody. Anyone know of a brand of coco that you can use right out of the bag? I spent a litte extra on cyco coco this past run because I was told it didn't need to be rinsed. I ended up having to wash, buffer, and charge as always because of ph issues. Any brand that can truly be used straight out of the bag?

I like getting good garden coco that is nice and fine and ready to go. I have bought bricks before and it is cheaper but for the amount i grow who cares. A big bag lasts me a couple of grows for around 40 bucks canadian. maybe 30 i cant remember.

Canna acually has a light feed in it (800 on 700 scale) because they advise to water their coco with no less then 0.8 EC which is NUTS to me. No way in hell will the genetics I grow from seed will like that NOPE. Canna has trichoderma as well but I usually flush it out along with the light feed for my seedlings.

You must have had bad luck??... I've used Cyco coco for the last 2 years with no negative issues I'm currently running cyco's coco bits and the plants are doing really well.

Straight out of the bag? This is my second run and I had ph issues with the first plants. The new ones started showing the same ph issues the next day after I transplanted into the cyco. After I rinsed it till runoff was 5.8 and repotted and the ph issues improved. I am using the coco pearl 70/30 mix.

Yes, straight out of the bag. I do a simple cal/mag and nutrient solution for the plants first feeding then NO More cal/mag for duration of grow. I use Mega Crop from Greenleaf Nutrients ph'd to 6.3. I use the GH feeding schedule for drain to waste as a guide for nutrient strength only. Using this guide is quite simple and getting great results. I use the lighter application recommended. The plant below is currently running at 600 ppm or 1.2 ec. ( I did go up to 1.4 ec for a couple feedings but noticed it was a bit hot so I backed it off to 1.2 ec) which I will increase up to 700 or 800 ppm's about midway thru flower for a couple weeks then gradually decrease until chop.

Just reuse your coco... it gets better with use.

Never do anything to my Canna Coco in the bag, except when I am about to put a seed into the the coco in my Solo cup with Canna, I make a lite nute solution, +/- 120 ppm with RO water, Cal/Magic, and Epsom. Then pH to 5.8 flood my Solo's poke a hole for the seed and insert, then just minor misting till the seed sprouts.
When transplanting into my 2 or 3 gallon Smart Pots with Canna Coco, I do the same a lite nute solution, 200 to 250 ppm and flood the coco prior to transplant.
