Viparspectra 600w distance?

So I just wanted to give you guys an update to this since i saw a bunch of replies from people both here and in the other thread that was wrong and maybe someone else has the same light and finds this info useful.

Simple fix :

1. PUT BOTH SWITCHES TO ON .... LEAVE IT THAT WAY ALL THE WAY THRU.

2. 18" normal over canopy. 20" -24" over seedlings.

3. The stretch is from lack of light ... Hence both switches.

I have same rig ... I moved on to Quantums BUT I still have it cuz it grows fairly well for a blurple. I kept it cause I like the damn thing. Anyways running BLUE ONLY is hella weak .
Rig pulls actually around 278w not 600 - market hype.

Even though you may get better rigs later like I did ... This panel works pretty well for small grows.

This guy knows what he is talking about and this worked very well for me. I have used both switches for veg ever since and am usually at 22" for seedlings and 18-19" at flowering. The pictures are of my critical kush 2 weeks after switching to 12/12

I’m running the same one. But I only have it on veg 13in away. Plants almost 3 weeks old and I think there ok.

i keep mine at 32 inches or 3 ft also use both switches in veg
i find the light is way too focused to keep it any lower then 28 inches as then you have no good spread
i also find the light to be a pile of shit but can produce ok bud
it also gets hot more then expected
but i have gotten over a year out of one with no problems but i suggest taking it apart it after each grow and giving it a good dusting if you intend to use it again
for just seeds you can just use the veg switch at 15/18 inches if you want to save on power but once the true leave come through use both veg and bloom for better plant growth

Maybe I will try it. This is my first grow. I’m always open to better ideas.

It's not exactly warm outside but my room is very cold with this light. It was cold the other times as well and never a problem to keep it below 25 celsius. And 32 is too far away for me but i do get what you are saying with the spread problem. I am however sticking with 18-19 at flowering since that seems to have the best result for me.

That’s where mine is at as of today. With both veg/flower on.

you would get bigger buds with alittle less stretching at 18 inch but you'll be stuck with a 2x2 spread
i still keep mine at 32 until plant grows up in to the light probably putting the center heads at 18 ish inches by the end of stretch

I’m about to start using one of these to start some fresh seeds on a new grow. First one in about 8 years. For veg I intend to use both switches. For flower you only using the flower switch?

no never just use bloom switch use both the entire grow
its all about spectrum hints why using both switches works better
not that this light has a good spectrum its rather bad but for the 1st year of growing its ok to learn with before deciding on buying a real grow light and not a half assed attempt at one

(NO DOUBT HE DOES)
however:
Find it very hard to believe switch to 12/12 schedule this is 3 weeks growth from that falling seedlings to this seems somewhat vigorous growth?
(Some clarification would help)

I’m in same boat just popped 2 special kush 1 pretty small other had some stretch in search of light.
Now I’ve repotted from Pete pellets into pots under viparspectra HP600 @ 28”
(1) has fallen over
(1) seems small
Hope they come good
My viparspectra HP 600 is fixed height & I move plants up/down to light
Example I’ve got a regular/fem in there at 3-4 months & it’s on a show box at 18” from canopy to light.

I’ve propped my “falling over” special kush seed with a toothpick between its 1st tru leafs just enough to hold her upright, say a prey and fingers-crossed...
