Late harvest buds hiding webs? But no spiders. Very confused.

This is an extreme close-up view of the inside of a dense, hard top I just harvested. For reasons I won't go into this harvest waited over three weeks after I wanted to harvest. I've looked in each since this but so far have only found it in this one and one other out of about 12 tops that have been cut. I did throw those away. Any ideas and advice?

It happens, pretty normal.
At your stage, I've just separated them and kept them for myself.

I've ended up throwing away the few I've found. Is it not dangerous to smoke or does it just affect the taste or what?

I wouldn't smoke it. Molds can be toxic. I'm not saying that is toxic but if you're seeing that it's time to take a good look at your bud and remove anything that has any mold. That stuff will spread as long as there is moisture. Get that stuff dry ASAP. Get plenty of airflow on that. More than normal when drying cannabis. It would be better to dry quicker and forgo any "Curing" process. Even if you don't see it it's probable that there are mold spores on all of your weed and if you allow the proper conditions it will continue to spread.

I find if you catch it in this stage and remove the fuzzy parts, it doesn't affect the taste.
I haven't died yet or developed any lung conditions. Yet.

I've read up a lot on this myself, most of us have had the issue at some point. All I've been able to read is split opinion on smoking weed that had growth removed from it. My moral compass or logic says verge on the side of caution, bin it and pay for your mistake.

Bud sections that are near the effected site can be separated, dried separate and kept separate, make your own call on smoking that yourself. I would not give that to others unless they know about it and are willing to smoke it anyway. Bud that is not near the effected site (diff node/stem etc) is fine to treat as normal.. so long as it's dried and cured completely separate.

Being greedy is easy, but it's a short term investment.
