I did not have a good day yesterday... Ugh, went out to find one plant riddled with mold and it's not even close... we were going to chop but I freaked out and said no because the buds just haven't plumped yet. Obviously a sativa, and I basically said I'd rather let it go and risk mold that to harvest and throw all of it practically into coconut oil. It wouldn't be smokable by the time it dried, the crystals are there it's just a really late finisher. So we cut some off, took off all mold we saw and doused everything with the serenade again. Pulled one plant that was an indica which is the only one that fully made it this far. Was the one in ground that was sick, but it recovered nicely and barely got any rot like... At all. Hope I get seeds from that because it resisted mold while everything around it got hit bad. The rest of the in ground looked ok, little or no mold so pushing it. Bucket plants are still in greenhouse, I picked 2 that were already partially chopped that looked good. I got them inside currently still in buckets just until I get to trimming them.
About to go strain my coconut oil, been going about 30hrs. Crock pots full of plant matter, think I did about 20oz trim and I got 29oz of coconut oil. Should be a really strong batch. Coffee cake and peanut butter cookies the first thing on my list to make!
I really hope next year will be better. We will have a tent or tarp and do some light depo and autoflowers. And all early finishers, no more this October shit it's Killin me lol...
I'm glad someone mentioned the rot in July with autos, good to keep in mind. Great to bud when they got 18hrs of sun, but humidity was horrible this year. Man seems like no matter what growing by the coast is hard. I think with good fans and covering them could help, and will also be using the serenade again. The rot is so bad for me because we're by a river and the coast, it gets colder, the fog and dew is thick and it's a lethal combo.

I always try to inspect and remove rot right away because it's easier to be sure and spot it wet than dry, plus you don't want it hanging around. I also wet trim because I think it tastes better but to examine for mold as well. If you have a lot put the cut branches in a pot of water and the leaves will keep stiff a day or 2 to trim easier, but check for mold asap and remove.

Someone else mentioned they wash everything in hydrogen peroxide then clean water if there's a lot of mold to be sure you clean it off the buds that aren't rotted but could still have spores. I washed what I cut yesterday in just cool water, just swished around quick then dried off and trimmed. I will do that from now on, extra step but I agree it's worth it If it helps my allergies and is a cleaner product. Buds look fine didn't wash anything off or ruin them at all

Hey fellow Rollituppers. Been a while since I’ve posted. Glad to see a lot of new Englanders using the new right to grow their on medicine.

It’s been a very bad year for me.. it’s my first outdoor grow. The bud rot and bud worms are RELENTLESS. I didn’t prepare for the works or rot and was not ready for how bad the rot was outdoors in New England.

But enough small talk. These are my girls minus two. Well what’s after harvesting a few os and the bud sacrifice of bud rot ridden colas.

There are fungi spores on almost everything in nature including plants. Temperatures and humidity in the right combination will cause them to grow. Perfect conditions can make them grow rapidly. If you’ve removed the major affected areas and they are now in a dry cool drying room it should stop. I personally wash all my flowers in a hydrogen peroxide solution which consists of 32 oz of 3% hydrogen peroxide in a 5 gallon bucket of cool water for 1 minute gently agitating. Then a second bucket containing 8 ounces of lemon juice and 1 cup of baking soda and hot water with a gentle agitation for 30 seconds. Follow with a cool water rinse for 1 minute . I use my garden hose with the gentle shower setting. You can also dip them in clear water with gentle agitation in 2 additional buckets if the hose is not applicable. Most growers are at first shocked at the thought of washing their buds as was I, until I tried it. The peroxide solution will kill any fungi that you can see or not see and also any bacteria that is on the girl. The lemon juice and baking soda foam when combined and will assist in removing and residual sprays that may have been used along with dead insects and dropping’s. I was amazed when I saw what came out of the flowers. I will never dry and cure buds with out doing it again. You will not wash off the tri’s or terpenes, it takes a solvent to do that. The flowers come out beautiful and stay much greener. I trim off all the unfrosted leaves before washing then hang them for about 15 minutes in front of a fan to remove the water and then hang to dry or if you trim first, trim them up and hang as usual. The fungus will be checked and you’re buds will be clean and much smoother smoking when dry. We wash our fruits and vegetables before we consume them . I’ve tried to upload a couple of pics of the wash water after cleaning a 1 lb plant.

Would washing the buds be a good idea? Also possibly going to be dealing with this issue over the weekend.

Went to my ladies last night only to discover a dreaded spot of botrytis. Went back today and found a few more spots....The plants could go a bit longer but with iffy weather coming and the trichs looking cloudy...I will be harvesting today before bud rot decides to harvest for me....

I had them covered with plastic and plenty of airflow too...damn.

Still have an OG Kush in a pot that needs to finish. Looking good so far. Covered in captain Jack's, some other bug stuff, mold stuff.. haha...covered in anything I can find.

The Amnesia haze is drying nicely. Here is some that I just cut a min ago

58% RH...66 degrees...finally got some good drying conditions in the room...fan running offline from them to keep the air moving. I cant believe how the color changes as they dry. Starting to look purple-ish...crazy.

My OGs still have at least a week or 2 left. They are in pots which lets me hump them in and out every day if its sunny...under the fans inside at night...so I'm giving them all the time they need. For some reason my sativas finished way earlier.

Your call...Jorge Cervantes has a video on using water / hydrogen peroxide to wash moldy bud.

I usually toss the obvious mold stuff and give the stuff that needs meticulous trimming to be saved, to a friend for medicinal use, I also believe in full disclosure and discourage trying to dump it on an unsuspecting person.
