Any tips for putting up large ceiling panels by yourself?
I've done my daughter's room, but I had a bunch of younger friends over who since moved, and it was a lot smaller. this is like a 4 x 14' ish panel.

Prop one end up on a board.. 2x4 or something that has a towel on it. Go lift other end and tack it. Then go to lifted end and tack it.
That tool they posted is super easy to use though and will make a ceiling job way faster

A 2x4 is a very specialized tool bro

We can usually hang 4x8’s on ceilings by ourselves although we usually hang longer sheets on lids for less butt joints with two people. Sometimes when a dude up high is struggling, his partner down low will use the old 2x4 to help his partner out by pinning one side up. I never used a towel though. It gives the tapers more work.

I'd need to ask a friend to come and help by the sound of it. My wife has the coordination and inclination of a landslide when it comes to this kind of thing.

Sometimes when a dude up high is struggling, his partner down low will use the old 2x4 to help his partner out by pinning one side up. I never used a towel though. It gives the tapers more work.

I never had the luxery of a mudder come after me lol. I always did it all. I hate sheetrock lol

Luckily this is part of the older part of the house and doesn't have skimmed ceilings. It is still old school with those plaster ceiling boards and little wide flat strips that nail them to the rafters.

Those flat wood strips are lath. The wood lath would get nailed on and then plasterers used that lath to “key” their plaster into and onto.

Drywall replaced that system for the most part.

Those flat wood strips are lath. The wood lath would get nailed on and then plasterers used that lath to “key” their plaster into and onto.

Yeah, I’ve completely abandoned what I used to think a deck should look like after subbing here

The closed stairs are especially nice. Not as nice as the spiral staircases the iron guys build though

Yeah, 2x4s In roofing, are essential if it’s a steep, roof, we use em as toe boards to work.

Those middle posts on the stairs shoulda been angle cut on the bottom to match the stringer, that hard square edge breaks the otherwise smooth lines. I get OCD about shit like that.

I agree. Match the angle of the steps. If not doesnt it looks good. Still nice work though

We do that sometimes, it’s all modeled for the customer on a computer program first and they choose what they want, we just build it
