hi all, I’m growing 4 plants using iws flood and drain with quarter strength nutes (canna aqua vega A+ B). They are under one 600w hps light about 2.5 - 3 feet from the tops of the plants, temps are about 24-25C. They are 2 week into veg but the plants don’t seem to be growing much and they are a limey green colour?? The ph is 6.0 - 6.4. This is my first time using a flood and drain system so I’m open to any ideas why things arnt going great. Could this be something to do with the water temperature in the reservoir?? I’ve attached a couple of photos below.

Whats your water temp.

Do you get slime ?

How old are they?

How long have they been on 1/4 strength nutes? Maybe their hungry but i need more details .

Also hungry plantslike yours get lightburn easier. So you may want to back off the light another foot or dim it a bit until their lush green and vigerous again.

My water temp was too cold I think, I’ve just bought a water heater and set it to 20c. There about 2 weeks old, not seen any slime.

Just happened to me a few days ago, in my case the light was too intense for my seedlings. Raised the light up, and now they have recovered.

Ok, I’ll try moving the light up. Can the water temperature affect the growth?
warm water could retard the growth slightly, in that less oxygen is contained in warm water. super cold water would be worse, but you're probably not using that. move your lights way up...

Try and keep the temperature of the water the same as your soil that way you won't shock them. Also they look a little under/over watered I might be wrong. Make sure there getting plenty of fresh air and a consistaint temp in the room. Don't get water on the leaves. Hope they get better and good luck.

And you need to up your humidity a lot till around 70% hps are a fucker for trying out the air. Wrong bulb your using for veg if I'm honest you need 300w hid while there young. Best to have the hps while flowing.

Metal halide* = the hid. Hes talking about.

Metal halide for veg = blue spectrum.

Hps for flower = red spectrum

Are you strictly in hydroton? How often do you feed per day? Seems a 25% feed solution is a little weak at this point for the size of your plants, which may be why they're 'limey green'. I'd make sure your medium is wicking up enough feed to satisfy your plants, I'd make sure it's not drying out in between feedings, I'd confirm you're in the correct pH range for your style of grow and I'd push your nutrient level up some. FYI, don't raise your humidity to 70%, when your room is only running at 77º F...you're asking for trouble.

I've grown multiple grows from seed to harvest under a 600w HPS Eye from Hortilux in coir and GS2 and have had the most growth I've ever seen indoors given the said conditions I ran .
