Hey people,
As the title says, I'm finding the learning curve concerning all this indoor horticulture stuff to be fairly overwhelming. I mean there are so many options to consider when setting up a space that I'm having a rough time getting started. Any guidance you can help with would be much appreciated.
I've a 2x6x8 foot closet space that I'd like to grow in. The closet is in an empty bedroom with a single window to the outside and is located just below the attic. Both the bedroom door and the closet door can have locks installed and if I need to, vents throught the ceiling or walls can be cut.
My first consideration , since I live in a severely canniphobic region, is avoiding legal difficulties. My second goal is a high yield and quality product. I've purchased some white widow seeds and am hopeing they'll actually arrive.
I'm such a noob that I have no idea what is appropriate for this closet. Or even what to expect in terms of yield from this closet. My first instinct is to roughly split the closet into upper and lower sections. One chamber will get a 400 watt hps with an electronic balast and cool tube (a cool tube is a setup that allows the light to be air cooled, correct?) for flowering. The other will get either a 400 watt metal halide with cool tube or be lit with CFL's for vegetative growth. Or should I used 600 watters? I will probabally set up some kind of chamber for clones that will sit outside the closet.
I'm thinking SCROG and would like to feed the plants hydroponically but don't really know what hydro tek would work best. I would like to build them modularly with the screen affixed to the hydro setup but this means that I'd like to avoid moving reservoirs as much as possible so DWC might be out.
So, at this point , I REALLY need the wisdom of your experience! What lights should I use? What hydro setup? What can I expect as a noob willing to "do it right" in terms of yield from this closet? I know most people get caught by talking too much , neighbors smelling plants or seeing indoor horticulture supplies, stealing power, fires from faulty wireing, infrared detection and unrelated events such as domestic disputes. Are there other avenues to worry about such as buying from indoor horticulture supply stores?
Please help with your wise suggestions, comments, etc.
