A/C unit making room hotter

So I tried sticking a window ac unit in my room thinking I could seal it and quit wasting so much co2. Well it raised my room temp to 108 with the door shut. It's usually about 83-87 consistently. I had forgotten window units pump hot air from the back of the unit. What can I do to keep using this ad unit without burning my room up?

Return it get a portable ac and a bunch of insulated 6 in duct and exhaust elsewhere

You need a larger than reccomended dual hose portable air conditioner.

Their more expensive and less efficient.

So if you need one for say 1500sq ft. Od easily buy one thats designed for 3000 sq ft.

Do some googling. Amazon might be your best bet.

One of the laws of thermodynamics. That window ad needs to be in a window. A portable ac unit will do no good unless vented. Whats the point of sealing a room if not to run co2 venting makes co2 useless. Portable ac units allways have a place for ducting. Your thinking of a mini split that dosnt use duct. If your running co2 you need a newer window ac in a window ( newer window ac units recirulate the cool indoor air without an air exchange) or you need a mini split.

Put it in the window, like it's designed for!
FYI: A portable ac with a single hose, will create a lot of negative pressure inside the room, but will cool the room. They will also exhaust smell, if that's a problem.

sorry guys i’m actually an idiot and didn’t realize how window ac units worked. ive always had houses with ac. im going to be picking up a portable ac i can duct into my lights exhaust system. will that by chance pull the co2 out of my room? do i need one with 2 hoses? one to pull in fresh air outside of the room and one to push the hot air out? ive seen a few used ones online but they mostly seem to pull the air into the unit from a vent in the front

Get a split AC it doesn't exhaust your CO2
Get thermal room insulation, so you need to run it less.
Run at the higher temps CO2 can use, so it runs even less.

You need the internal part of a window A/C to sit inside your growing space and the other side should be outside. They just work this way pushing cold air inside and exhaust hot air outside.

A two hose portable will not exhaust air from the room unless it is not sealed well. The single pipe will. A window unit will not exhaust either unless as stated it leaks, mine does not. Not sure if I would blow the conditioned air through the light though, not sure what, if any effect that would have on the bulb. Probably better to just duct that seperately and cool the room with the ac IMO.

Exactly they pull air in the front of the unit push hot air out 1 duct and cold air out the other duct. The duct pushing hot air needs to be vented outside. If its vented into the bedroom the tent is in you will just see steadly rising temps. This also makes you lose your co2. If you want to run co2 you must have a mini split or window ac.

Also do not pipe cold air into your tent. Cool the room the tent is in and your extraction fan will exchange the hot air for cool. It does help to have an oclating fan near the ac to better mix the cols and hot air before its pulled into tent

I've run a portable air conditioner in my tent when it's hot in the summer. I used a "Y" splitter to vent out the same duct as the sealed hood. Worked great except for taking up a bunch of space. It kept the tent cool and that was the purpose.

Have you measured your co2levels?

Usually its alot higher than outside if your growing inside an occupied house ...

We breathe co2. I dont add any , and my levels sit around 1100 when were home .

You should get an HRV lol. Your levels are higher than the upper limit for a healthy home. The issue with a sealed grow is the higher than normal oxygen levels due to the plants. The options are good ventilation or enrichment.

So simple yet effective . I’m assuming you filter the exhaust for smell?

Why? If you can directly cool and vent the tent why would it be better to cool the room?

Unless the ac has a remote sencer you can keep in the tent it will be much colder in the tent than the room the ac is in.

Got ya, I was thinking portables and window shakers not a ducted unit. .
