3rd Grow, 4 Plants, 3 Strains

Hey guys 3rd Grow and by the results so far it's looking to be the best grow out of the 3. I learnt so much in my first two grows along with the riu community of course.

My equipment is:
1.4x1.4x1.8 harvemax tent
x2 6 inch fans, intake and outtake
Harvemax 400W LED COB light (pulls 232W)
Nutrifields coco a and b
Using 30/70 coco/petite mix.

So I started with 5 seeds, 2 blueberry, 2 white widow and 1 train wreck, all fems.
They all germinated very well but unfortunately one of the white widows never made it to the surface so I was stuck with 4.

I began them in 1L pots and they took off terrifically as seen in the photo.

After they grew their 5th nodes I topped them all and started LST a few days later when growth had continued.

They're now in 5gal square pots.

I made and added a scrog net at 9 inches above the plants base about a week ago.

Their 5 weeks old today, looking at flipping to flower in less than a fortnight.

I'll update some photos of it today when I look at em. Transition photos included.

Happy Growing!

If you can manage the heat created, I think that you're going to be very pleased with the growth you get from the 600w. Maybe even throw that LED around the perimeter for a little extra 'kick', especially if it has UVA/UVB spectrum, as that will antagonize your plant into producing more trichomes to protect itself from the UV rays as trichomes are sort of like 'sunscreen' for plants. All in all, it's looking quite well! Keep it up and keep us posted! :)

Thanks for that man, I honestly was also thinking to have both so I could include the multispectrum of the LED although my current power bill even with solar panels is $1200+ a quarter. So I probably wont at this stage.

And in regards to working around the heat, my tent is 1.4x1.4x1.8m, is that a big enough space to work around it? Im hoping that the current cold temps will help combat the heat of the light. (As ive currently got a heater in there to keep it in the optimal temperature zone. If I need to ill have to wait alteast a fortnight to buy an actual cool tube or hood.

Either way ill put it in tonight and ill keep an eye on the temps for the first 2-3 days.

Will try to keep updated weekly :)

Update: New light is in and I can already tell its light outtage is shitting all over my cob, I know the wattage is higher but the exposure in general is terrific.

Oh does the 600w not have a cooltube on it? Or do you not have an inline fan attatched to the cooltube? Without a cool tube, managing temps will become...well, a little difficult. I run a 1000w in a 6.5ft tent, which is very similar to the size of yours, and I manage just fine. But I also have a very huge inline fan blowing air through the cool tube, and keep two large oscilating fans blowing across the plant's canopy to prevent hot spots. Are you saying that the 600w HID is giving you better output than your LED?....Sorry man, still half asleep over here so I may be misunderstanding ya lol. Looking forward to updates!

Nah It just didnt include a cooltube in the kit I bought as my access to equipment is harder in Australia and if purchasing from overseas then import and delivery fees are disgusting. But as I said ill probably end up purchasing a tube or hood.

And I have a large 15' fan directed across the top of the canopy.

And with the lights, heck yeah so much more light exposure, range, and penetration is incredible.

Update: Checked on em 12 hours later and theres a definitely noticeable difference in growth. Gonna switch to 12/12 in next couple of days.

Also wanted to ask on the subject of getting a lighting cool hood, will it be efficient to just add it to the same vent line that i put my carbon filter on the end of?

Bump/Update:

Girls are looking good, faced some problems with the white widow due to incorrectly buffed coco, think its now under control. This new hps is definitely making a positive difference.

Flipped em to 12/12 only 36 hours ago. Keen for the stretch.

Yes it sure will! Assuming your inline fan isn't a weak one, that is. If odor control is an issue for you, then you definitely want to be sucking through your carbon filter, then onto your cooltube. If this is not a concern for you, then I would consider simply hooking your inline fan directly to your cooltube. Also, you will want to 'push' the air through your cooltube rather and 'pulling' it through. From what I've heard, this is the most efficient way, and works best for my setup. I'm glad the new light is treating ya well, can't wait to see the babies after their big stretch!

So you mean in order, carbon filter, fan, then cooltube and then outside?

Cooltube all the way! You can get air cooled hoods, which I've never used, but a cooltube will be far more efficient by not allowing the heated air to escape into the grow space, but rather, sending it outside or wherever you decide to vent the hot air.

Looking fantastic! I take it you're liking the 600w? :) It looks like your plants sure do lol. I think I can see the symptom you're referring too...definitely looks kinda magensium-ey related to me. Cal-mag can be a great help, but try not to use much as its bad for N toxicity. Some products like 'Sweet Raw' have MG in them and nothing else nutrient wise...and has the benefit of really boosting the sweet smell of your plants :) Anyhow, I'm sure you'll solve the problem since you've come this far, just let us know if we can help further!

I think its time for an update, 5 and a half weeks since flip, 4th week of visual flower! Babies are looking good!

for the last 5 weeks all ive been in the tent almost everyday with me being used to the smell, hardly smelling anything, when id bring my girlfriend out she'd rave about they smelt great, then just 3 days ago I walk in and oh my lord are they smelling great, definitely gaining that flower aroma very nicely!

Ive also added a photo of the white widow plant as you can see a single stem has that strange tiger pattern, its nowhere else on the plant and ive tried treating it for mg or calcium deficiency but to no change, im not sure if it just a strange ass pheno type?

Keen to see them in the coming weeks!
