First Grow; Flame Me.

First grow ever. Been reading heaps and i'm after your opinions.

Growing 'CBD Hash Plant' Under a 600watt Mars Hydro and 300watt Viper Dimmable, Running 300watt only on VEG Switch for more blue spectrum.

Details:
18 Hours on at the moment.
RH Struggling to keep it above 40% (with a wet cloth in grow tent)
Highest TEMP it has been is 82f
Normally around the 79f

Soil from my hydrostore mixed with perlite. (Has enough nutrients to get me to flower)
Soil PH'ed to 7
Tap water is 7.2ph
PH'ed Down tapwater to 6.5 for watering
Water once every 4 days if required.
Smart Fabric Pot.
Watering till a small amount comes out the bottom.

Using a Bluetooth Monitor for soil moister and other details.

Concerns:
1. Taco Shaped leaves? People reckon Temperature related or RH related? Maybe these leaves look normal, i really don't know since its my first grow.
2. Droopy looking leaves?

If someone could have a look and let me know if i should have concerns, Photos are 10 days from seedling.

I am definitely no expert but they look exactly like all my seedlings do at 10 days.

If your not adding nutrients to the water you don’t need to water to runoff.

You don’t say how big your smart pot is but I’m guessing you’re overwatering. If the pot is big just wet enough around where the roots are so that the soil has a chance to dry out.

Me thinks you may be watering too much! Little baby plants don't need much water especially the amount to which it drains out the bottom of your pots. When they become teens and older that style of watering will be necessary. until then just keep soil moist.

Also you may just mist them daily. That will also help with low humidity. I don't really worry otherwise much about humidity during veg.
I read that your soil is hot enough for nutrients to get you to flower. I agree no need for nutes during a short veg period and then really only half the manufacturers recommended amount of nutes for feeding!

I think they look pretty normal and are healthy Good work!

I am curious about your "bluetooth monitoring" system tho. What brand name and do you have a link.

Thanks for the responses, I'm going to mist them daily as the lights turn on.
I have a Smart Pot, Holding around 8 Gallons (30 Liters) of Soil & Perlite.
I just gave the plant about 0.5 Gallons (2 liters) of 6.5 Ph'ed down tap water and a mist.
Soil before water was cool to touch slightly darker than top soil but i don't think moist to touch. (its been 5 days since last water).

Let me know if you think that's too much water? or i should wait till the soil is all 1 color?

I use this: It was completely useless until the latest software update on it from about 2 weeks ago. Before it kept disconnecting and you would have to remove the battery from the devices and re-pair it for it to work, Now it works faultlessly for me, connect every time to see the data shown in the photo attached.

I think your soil is still too wet. Let’s the roots search out the water. I’d let the medium totally dry out before I watered again.
Your pot is big so the soil where there are no roots needs to remain dry until the roots get there.
I’d stick my finger in the soil along the edges of the pot and lightly aerate if there are no roots there. Give that a chance to dry. Lots of problems can develop if your medium does have dry / wet cycles

yep, too wet. You're not gonna dry her to death. Let the soil get good, dry, and loose before you water again. should be 5-6 days.

7ph for soil is too high.

get that to 6.5.
stop watering so often. your plants hate it.
water when they're bone dry, to where the fan leaves/stems going to them start to droop.

Why are you going to mist them daily? Leave them alone.

I test the need for water by hefting my pots...heavy=wet and no need for water.
Light=dry and water.

I mist for humidity and because I think it helps the plants and leaves

i don't even find lifting pots helpful for overwatering. your soil may be dry, but your roots may not be.
just wait for them to droop from "underwatering" if it's only for a few hours, they dont care, you just have to give them a big drink of water after.
your plants will tell you what they need, you can't tell the plants what they need.

I am definitely overwatering, Today, before the last time I watered them, they looked perky leaves pointing slightly up. Now that i have watered them, leaves are droopy again.
Thanks for the advice, I'm going to wait a week before I water them next. And when i do water them ill water around the plant and let the other soil further away stay dry.
Next time ill only water with 0.25G of water too. Correct?

Curious why you're using 8 Gal right from the start, unless it's an auto. Given the large pot and small plant I'm guessing 1/2 gal will be fine for now as it's small and won't drink so much. But lifting and telling when dry will be harder so you need to watch them carefully to see when they droop a little. By carefully I mean check at least once a day. See if your meter agrees with your observations, but heard they aren't reliable. just an opinion. happy growing!

CBD Hash Plant doesn't have 'auto' genetics, I'm using such a large pot because I was scared to transplant, First grow I though just keep it in 1 big pot which should get me to flower and shouldn't give me any problems? right?

I also thought Smart Fabric Pots are 'Hard' to over water giving how easy they release water and drain. I was thinking it would be the most forgiving pot for a first timer. Also I should mention that my grow tent is height restricted. So my smart pot is shallow but wide, roots should expand sideways quickly hopefully training the plant to stay short and wide. The idea is also to use a scrog later on.

A'lot of people believe volume maters and not so much of the depth of a pot, people indicated on other forums that a shallow pot given enough soil volume the plant will grow its root mass quite wide instead of deep and thus inturn helping the plant mass above ground stay wide too.

I don't have a photo of the pot but i can get one later on. If your curious about it. I'm just trying to get the most out of what I have.

You're fine in that size pot. The roots will have lots of space to fill in, its going to take awhile but that's ok. The plant may not look like its growing, but it is....
That's the mindset for now. Growing ROOTS, loads of healthy roots. In a fabric pot, it is still very easy to overwater when the plant is smallish...The benefit, is that recovering from overwatering is also faster in cloth pots.... The soil will easily hold enough water for many, many, days. Over the next few weeks, given a soil environment which will allow for the proper exchange of gasses, the root mass will build enough to create more foliage, leading to faster transpiration, leading to more frequent need of watering. Root mass builds the fastest in what would be considered moist conditions.

For every one immature plant that dies of dehydration, thousands and thousands are tortured , even murdered by drowning.....

Congrats on your first grow! Good luck, hope you can make it through to the end!

Just remember. Don't overwater, don't overfeed and don't harvest early! All 3 things are hard for first time/new growers.

i've only ever brang my soil up, not down. gypsum maybe?

I like moisture probe meters. I don’t really need them anymore as I am used to my gear but I like to see the needle point to the dry range about 3/4 the way down a pot. Still moist at half way usually.

Once you know what it feels like you can lift or tip the pots to check.

It's not a big deal, I was just wondering. Transplanting lets you do a few things and it's not hard. Like for instance you can switch soil types and you can repot the plant deeper and then roots sprout out of the stem where ever it is under soil so then you get more roots. I like a clear plastic cup with holes in the bottom inside a not clear plastic cup. Then you can pull the clear cup out to see where the roots are and make sure you don't get root bound. Just razor blade the cup to get the root ball out and plop it in your new soil. I like fabric pots too. Good choice!
