Digikey says the strips should arrive today so I'll see if I can mock it up and see what she does.

Mounted the strips on the backside of the original pcb and wired them up. Damn this thing is bright. Gotta get a step drill bit to add a second power switch for a pair of the drivers. That will allow me to run the 5k sections as a veg light and then add the 2.7k during flower. I didn't have enough wire to finish wiring the last driver section but I did fire it up on 3 drivers and she pulls 250w on 3 drivers so it should draw about the same amount of power as the old setup-just a whole bunch brighter.

I received my 3 LT-VB24F strips i ordered so long for a test with a LRS-350-48 power supply yesterday.
I build a aluminium frame with u sections and flat 40mm wide aluminium strips 3mm thick, then got some of those double sided blue heat conductive tape and put then on with the strips put onto that and drilled some holes into the aluminium and put it all together put it on last night, the 3 strips are 2x3000k and 1x4000k, super bright light for those 3 strips damn.
Going to put 4 bagseed plants i have growing in the sun under them and see what happens.
The frame does not fit in my closet, but i knew that when i started building it, the frame is 1.25mx0.65m i will be able to fit 10 of these strips in a row onto the frame with 20mm space inbetween them for when i do a grow in a tent later this year.
So currently the frame is at a angle in the closet, the closet is 1.2m wide and 0.7m deep and 1.9m high

How long did they take to deliver to SA? Also did you buy the driver for it locally or also import it?

6 days, but there was a weekend inbetween as well, paid like 2k for the 3 strips, power supply, and some other stuff and R400 customs and tax all together R2400 about.
Definately ordering again, over 2k is free shipping otherwise you pay R600 shipping as well.

You from south africa? Im actually going to do 1000 watt of these strips then im going to do some cobs as well later on, thinking of mounting them on cpu heatsinks and mounting the heatsinks to a frame possibly and heatsink fans will be powered by a normal pc psu
Yep I am, I'm looking to divide my grow area in two and do 600watts a side, maybe 1000. These strips seems like a much more economical option for me at this point. Running HPS with our electricity rates is suicide.

If you run the COB's low like I do you can cool them passive. I use a small U-channel glued into a bigger U-channel to increase the cooling surface and use 4pcs Bridgelux V18 COB's at 500mA or ~17w each or ~70w each "double channel".
Each channel is 1150mm long by the way.
If you click the link in my sigature(400w LED) you can see how it looks in action.
2nd picture shows it integrated into the frame next to the c-channels for the F strips. 25x 25x 25mm c-channels for strips and a 20x 20x 20 channel glued onto a 25x 40x 25mm c-channel for 4 COB's in series. Strips stay below 40°C and COB heatsink stays below 50°C with 28-30°C ambient temps. No need for an additional fan and when you use cheaper COB's but more of them you can get the same efficiency but you can spread the heat onto a bigger surface and cool them passive. 4pcs 12v fans with usually 0,25A needs up to 12w and that's another heat source inside your tent and 12w are after all 12w. With active cooling you also always have the risk of failure. A passive setup is like build it and forget it! No risk of overheating when the surface area is calculated properly.
Formala for passive cooling is ~110cm²/heatwatt or ~60cm² per total watt used. If you know the COB effiency it's easy to calculate heat watts. If you have a 60% eff. 10w COB you get 6PAR/w of light and 4w direct heat. A passive heatsink for such a 10w COB need at least 440cm² surface area to keep the COB's cool to the touch.
I have the formula from the hi-fi corner where they also try to keep the temperatures below 50°C. Allegedly because of leakage currents and such. No idea what it does in hi-fi amplifier chips but we can transfer the formula to LED's 1: 1.

I need some advice, i have everything connected up my 3 strips to the 350w ac/dc meanwell, at how many volts do you think i should run them? I currentyl have them on 45v

They're needed to be ran at the corresponding forward voltage on the strips. Match those #s.

So i must run them at 48 volts the strips are rated at 48.8v , or is it best to run them lets say at 45v like im doing now at veg stage and 48 or 47.5 at flower stage?

Y I think I ordered the Friday and they were here like Wednesday or Thursday...
