China literally copied the BMW models on sale built at the BMW factories in China and made them in their own factory and marketed them as their own brand. They are identical in every way except the logo on the hood and steering wheel.

BMW actually filed multiple lawsuits over the copyright and patent infringements.

China answered by banning BMW sales in the country until their complaints were dropped. Which they were.
