True. We still have a dew most nights, even when it's not raining. If the RH gets down below 50% it's real dry for here. But where I'm at is sand. Any ground water is gone in a few days when the rain stops. I can turn on the soakers or sprinklers in the garden. In the bush is another matter.

While I tend my herb plants once a week, I can't carry enough water for all of them. When it's raining regular I use 3-4 gallons per 15 plant patch, just to deliver the food. In dry weather they may get 1-2 gallons per plant per week. And some patches are harder to get to than others, so it is not uncommon for me to lose budding plants. Most years a few of them will cash.
At such low elevation, what becomes of that water that percolates through the sand? Does it re emerge on land or is there a brackish water table it seeps into?

We have lots of ponds, creeks and rivers. Lots of water around, just here in the sandhills, not too much if you get away from bottom land. I've learned to know what is going on below the surface by the plants growing. And I dig a lot of test holes. If it's too much sand, you move over a few yards and it may be better.

After 48 hours of rain and clouds, it has cleared up nicely this morning. High pressure now dominates Wisconsin, and full sun with low humidity is the trend for the next 48 hours. Perfect flowering conditions!

No rain today. So far, anyway. But man did we get a couple of good ones over the weekend. I dumped 3 inches from the rain gauge last night at the camp. That was from Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.

At 1720 it's fair, 91F with 56% humidity. Forecast high/low of 92/71F with 20% chance of rain tonight. 10 day high/low of 91/71F with 9 days of possible rain.

Last night it was 2100 when I made it to the camp. There was some major storms going on down at the coast. It was too far away to hear the thunder, but for an hour while I was walking, there was a near constant light show. I couldn't see the actual lighting, but it was lighting up the clouds on my southeastern horizon. When I stopped walking, went on to camp and turned on the radio, there were weather alerts every few minutes. 60 mph winds, dime sized hail and lots and lots of rain. I was glad it would down there.

High Pressure dominates weather today in SE Wisconsin. Nice breeze out of the NE keeping the ground cool while the sun cranks it up from above with some cloud cover at times. Highs in the mid 70s. Great day for growing!

Good Morning from Dairyland!!

Haven't had any rain here for a good while. We've been in triple digits for a week now with at least another week to go, and as of yesterday there's a raging wildfire pretty close by...suspected arson, but at least they caught the guy. Look up Cranston fire. Several homes lost, entire communities evacuated. Yep, it's definitely that time of the year...again.

Just heard about it. Could not get the obvious reference out of my head.

It would be ironic if it was started by a meth lab gone wrong.

Out here, that wouldn't be too far fetched.

It's pretty wild. When I look to the east, I see nothing but grey from all the smoke. The fire was started less than 10 minutes from where I live. Fortunately (for me) it's traveling away from my area.

I must be the last person alive who hasn't watched the series but I do know that motor home based labs are common.

Breaking Bad is a good show and well worth checking out...this coming from someone who generally hates TV programming.

I can't speak to the prevalence of RV meth labs, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were fairly common. People love their meth, especially here in socal...something about desert people in particular.

As a desert person, I would have to agree completely. I know a lot if spots back home swimming in that garbage.....
It's everywhere, like it's cool or something.

I tried it once some 30 years ago when it was known more for keeping truckers awake on long hauls than infesting small towns and such.

Saying that I did not see the attraction would be an understatement. I fucking hated it.

Weed is my drug/medication of choice, simple as that.
