According to various sources, 9/11 cost about $500,000. So for every dollar they spent, we spend 4 million in the "war on terror". A cult of a few dozen people should not be able to bring the US to its knees. I still find it incredulous that so many Republicans keep saying that the greatest threat to the US is Islamic fundamentalism. IMO, the greatest threat to the US is believing that is true.
These are different times. Back in the old day, one person could not cause so much destruction on their own. Now all it takes is a few people to cause so much damage. Either you change with the times or you perish, and I'm certainly not going to ignore the power of the few people.

Most peole don't know (or don't wanna acknowledge) what we did when we were training them in Afganistan, (they were 'freedom fighters' back then) and how it came to take a chunk outta us later. All so we could protect our 'vested interest' (translation, greed for oil).

To a point made earlier, I honestly cuddn't care less who thinks I am a lesbian. I brought it up to show two points. Number one, how lousy Cc is at figuring things out despite the fact, and how even when wrong NO ONE on the right EVER says 'I was wrong' and most DEFINATELY never says 'I am sorry." (Of which I did both) I wud prolly pass out on the floor if that happened.

Doctor Pot- Kudos from me as well.

Most people are very aware of our interaction was with Afganistan. That was during the cold war, and we did everything we could to fight the Russians and that included arming and training a country that was being invaded at the time. Just like what Russia did to Vietnam, we did to Afganistan. Cold War.

That was then, this is now.

The point was that the same terrorist's bankrupted Russia. Now they've got us up shit creek without a paddle.

Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

......and here we are just a scant 20 years later, repeating it.

Also, after "helping out", we left them to their own devices, the Afghanis, unsupported. We abandoned them, and, a quagmire resulted.

Let us not be divisive, in these dire times.

"Now, uh, what they'll tell you, uh, is, uh, that he doesn't look like the rest of the people on the dollar bills, uh......"

wasn't Clinton the one who signed the free trade agreement that shipped our jobs to China who took the jobs and is now trying to kill us all by poisoning us?

You haven't heard about the Cadbury candy being pulled last week? Or the baby formula a few weeks ago. They put the poison in the milk and then shipped the milk to all these different factories. I bet there's more shit that just hasn't been discovered yet.

A lot of products are "made" in the US with all of the componets coming from overseas first.

Most food labels give the name of the place that distributes the food but not who actually made it.

Is a little late for YOU to preach to others about being divisive, honey.
But I am pleasantly suprised you can apologize.

The chocolate recall was for Mars and someone else I can't remember.

The terrorists did about 100 billion dollars worth of damage and killed about 3000 people. This alone is nowhere near enough to destroy our country. Virtually all the damage done to our nation after this point was self-inflicted.

Our choices weren't to either do nothing or go ape shit on the middle east. We could have simply increased our airport security and deposed the Taliban in Afghanistan. If we hadn't wasted all our resources on Iraq we may have even captured bin Laden. But the fact remains that we've used Islamic extremism as a scapegoat for a lot of our other problems that have nothing to do with terrorism or Al Qaeda.

exactly..john mccain loves to talk about winning this war...but this war started as a lie...we lost this war as soon as the first lie was told...did anybody see 60 minutes sunday? a special forces guy(officer) was sent to afghanistan to hunt bin laden down...he had him in his sights 3 times and each time was called off????
