Huge hail is also a THING in Colorado Springs. My niece had her garden wiped out recently by hail and in the past has had to replacr her roof due to the hail. The only thing that happens in s. Oregon is wildfire which is again rearing it's head.
My niece's half sister in Colorado Springs also has to replace her roof from the same storm. And if I heard right, the insurance company totaled her car.

Too many people living where they didn't used to live. The mountains don't care in the long run about fires and such. They have their own timeline. Folks who have spent their life savings for a little A-frame {in the mountains, but close enough to drive into town to work everyday} are another matter.
They're the cause of most of the fires too, ironically enough!

Funny how that works. But Colorado and Florida are neck and neck as far as lightning strikes go. The difference is, you guys have more dry storms than we do.

Rain is a funny thing. We lost a transformer, modem and pump controller yesterday, but it barely sprinkled. The BIL was leaving when that storm came through, and he said the rain at was like a solid wall a mile and a half down the road.

No, Florida gets more lightning than anywhere else in North America:

Weather continues to be absolutely perfect in SE Wisconsin today. Probably will have to water tonight.
High pressure dominates with highs in the mid 80s inland off Lake Michigan.

Heat and high dew points begin to return here tomorrow. Means daily chance of thunderstorms with the shift in humidity from the south.

Cost of replacing BIL's controller was $118.24. We found compositors on Ebay for 20 bucks with a very quick look. I bet we can find them cheaper than that.

I drove through some sprinkles coming into work just now. That was the first rain today. At 1610 it's partly cloudy, 89F with 62% humidity. Forecast high/low of 91/73F with 30% of rain tonight. 10 day high/low of 93/73F with 7 days of possible rain.

High pressure dominates SE Wisconsin today. Sunny skies and heat today, with seasonal dew points and highs in mid to upper 80s. With little chance of precipitation, I will be watering again tonight.

Mid 90s again today, tomorrow and for the next few days, cooling to mid 80s for the weekend. This is the time of year to expect record breaking high temperatures so I'm happy to report we aren't getting it.

Daytime temps here in the 75 to 85 range, but lately nighttime temps mid 40's to low 50's! This has been a strange weather year so far.
Probably will have to move my plants back to the temporary greenhouse.
