Hey whats up fellow growers? Before I share my 2nd grow, I just want to say that any comments are appreciated on my grow. Im still learning a lot and this site has been really helpful.

This is my 2nd grow and I just wanted to share what I have. I am growing four plants right now that came from some bagweed that my buddy had. He said it was purple and some good stuff so I took a bunch of the seeds. The four plants growing right now under about 300 flourescents but am getting a T5 setup with 6400K grow lights that produce 10,000 lumens from htg supply in a couple days. They have been under the flourescents for three weeks or so and am looking forward to the T5's. I haven't given them nutes yet, just plain water. They are in fox farm soil and in 3.5 gallon pots. I have an oscillating fan blowing on the plants and moving air out of the closet. It does get pretty hot in there sometimes, always over 80 degree F. Now that it is getting cooler outside, (I leave my window open all day and the door wide open) the temperature has gone down. I don't have much ventilation since i have the door open but im wondering if i should close the door and buy an inline fan and duct. The plants are looking a little burned on some parts...

Im going to let these veg for another couple weeks or so then put them under my 1000 watt hps light. I have a question for anybody though...could i put them under the 1000 watter now instead of the T5? I mean, I know I could but should I? Would it be better for them? So i moved my 4 purple plants to the 1000 watter until my T5 setup comes, which should be tomorrow. Im wondering if I should leave them in there now for 18 hours a day until i decide to start flowering or if i should let them veg a bit more. They are only a month or so old.

I also just changed the setup a little bit. I got a box fan taking out the air sitting on a shelf and also another fan for the intake to get air onto the plants and another right on the bulb to keep the heat down. Im hoping this will keep the heat down more than previously.

Also i got some white rhino seeds that im about to plant, i just need to get the soil, which will be fox farm ocean forest, and the fox farm line of nutrients, which i heard are excellent.

Man, just one day under the 1000 Watter and they are looking taller already!

Three out of the four plants are looking tall and im wondering if i should put them into flowering now...can a plant yield a couple ounces off a 1000 watt hps if it has only been vegging for a month or so? Anyways I got some T5's so i think i will put maybe the shortest of the four purple plants under the T5 grow light and put the other ones into flower. Like I said I was thinking about buying fox farm nutrients but i've heard both positive and negative feedback on them so would anybody like to comment who has used fox farm nutes?

I have a 6 tube 4 foot t-5 light that goes along the front of my 4 plants with a 600 watt hps directly above right now. my t-5 has 3 blue and 3 red bulbs, and the combination is powerfull in my grow area. i thought about taking the t-5 away to use for mom and clone purposes but my plants are loving the combo so much I don't want to take anything away. I am only 3 weeks into 12/12 and i already have substantial flower production. you could use both

Thanks for the heads up steadman. I was going to start the white rhinos with those but since im not using the t5 yet i should just plug it in with the hps (i havent been able to use it because i need soil and the cord isn't long enough to reach an outlet from the closet so i need to buy a surge protector.) Couple questions for you: Should i leave the t5 there the whole time and just put them both on a timer for the same amount of time? Can i plug a 10,000 lumen 6400K bloom T5 into the same timer with the hps? Or will it be too much power in one outlet? How should i hang the t5 in relation to the hps?

By the way, the plants are looking good and starting to get taller and bushier. I also fimmed 3 out of four of them last night to see what would happen. I've heard this does well for the plant so i wanted to see for myself. The one i didnt fimm is the smallest one, i didnt think it was old enough yet and i think i will leave this one to see what it looks like and compare it to the others.

Hopefully i'll get to starting the flowering soon but im thinking i want them a little bit taller, especially the smallest one. Its only about 4 inches or so with only 3 or 4 sets of leaves. So thats the problem with wanting to use both in one room...if i have both the lights in the same place then i have to wait for flowering so the smallest one can get bigger, or i can put the t5 back in the closet and buy a surge and flower them...hmmm vwat to do, vwat to do

Yes by 4 weeks you should have at least 6-12 side nodes present which will grow to more than enough girl for a 1000w.

I just got to week 5 on the Fox Farms. This is my first time taking Fox Farms past the veg stage and had to pick up the extra nutes (Tiger Bloom & Solubles). I was planing on getting both the Tiger Bloom and the first soluble but the guy at the shop actually talked me out of the Solubles.

Well that's the last time I listen to the guy behind the counter. I did my mix TODAY WITHOUT the solubles as suggested and when I tested my Parts Per Million (PPM) they were @ 700 when they were supposed to be @ 1100-1400. Now I have a low PPM mix and I already flushed over the weekend so my girls had to get them without the full strength.

Check out my grow journal for updates I gonna copy this cause I wasnt gonna vent but now that I allready did I will add this there. I will keep you updated and we will se if he is right and they do fine because I work when the shops open and I can only go Saturdays.

Once i get enough money im going to get all the fox farm nutes plus solubles. I've heard they work great and they are worth the money.

What's up everybody...just wanted to give a few updates about the plants and maybe ask a few questions.

So three of the four plants have taken off pretty fast since its been under the 1000 hps, which has only been about 10 days or so. I just measured them and they are all up to about 13 inches tall and im just starting to flower. The other one is about 7 inches tall but its definitely not as bushy. Im really pleased with the 1000 watter, its made the plants take off in a very short time.

I decided to start flowering the plants because i think they are tall enough. I dont know the exact day i planted them but they are at least a month old, if not maybe 6 weeks. This brings me to a couple questions. They have only been under the 12/12 for one day, so how long does it take before you see signs of sex after you start switching to 12/12? I know the males show earlier and is that at about three or four weeks? I've only grow autoflowering plants which did the work for me.

Also, do you guys use foxfarm soil? I know its good but I dont want to spend that much money. So im wondering if anybody else thinks its really worth the trouble. It did work well for my first grow.

One more question, about fimming. I tried to fim my plants but i think i might have messed them up. I can't show a picture and i know this isnt the best but its the best i could do. basically i cut right where the red exclamation points are

Now my question is, did i fuck up the plant? For some reason i didnt remove the other leaves, just the part in the middle. If anybody can clarify this for me, that would be good. I dont have much experience fimming so any input is helpful. Thanks

Whats up, just thought i'd update anybody who's reading...

Just checked on the plants and my biggest one was drooping really bad. The other three were fine but i decided to give them all water anyways. But i got a question if someone can answer...

Did i screw my plants up by fimming them, then putting them on flower at 12/12 for a couple days, then going back to 18/6? I fucked up because i fimmed three out of the four, left one alone, and then put them on flower i think the next day. Of course everybody who reads this will think 'hey dumbass, you should let them grow more after you fim' because they aren't really growing since i switched them to 12/12, then back to 18/6.

Anyway's, two of the plants main stem has not grown AT ALL since i've cut them, while my biggest plant is starting to recover ( there's at least a little growth). Then the fourth one is hopefully fine, if i didnt fuck it up more by switching the lights back and forth...Its making me frustrated

To answer your question from earlier, yes you should be fine running both lights on one timer.. I do.

your plants should typically show sex between 5-14 days depending on the strain, and how you conducted the transfer down to 12/12..

Be patient and let the plant take it's natural course of growth. It's really best to let her continue to flower once the process has begun. But you probably didn't mess them up changing the lights when they had only been in 12/12 for 5 or so days.

also, with that 1000 watt hps, i would grow a much larger plant before i switched to flower. you would receive a much larger yeild per plant. but make sure you keep those t-5's next to your ladies because they will veg alot better, and stretch alot less with the blue spectrum of light. that 1000 watt alone will cause too much stretching, which may mean less flower sights because the nodes are farther apart.

Do some research on what exactly works for your system, and then definitly invest in some quality nutrients and soil additives. make sure to always add organic compost to every growing thing. there is an excellent product that you should always add to any soil or soil-less medium. it's called vermi-t. YOU MUST USE IT, or something similar that will add all of the beneficial bacteria that your plant needs to be able to properly breakdown, digest, and therefore fully utilize all available foods and fertilizers. I use "advanced nutrients" (the brand) with organic composted soil.

Couple things on my update. Thanks for stopping by Steadmanclan, its good to get advice when seeking it. I haven't gotten to measure my purples in a couple days but i imagine they are about 13 inches still. How big would you let them get before flowering? Also, can anyone explain why the stems have not grown back yet on my fimmed plants? Its been about a week or so and they haven't done any growing. Im going to give them grow the big fox farm nutrient for vegatative growth tomorrow, hoping this will get those stems going.

Im in a pretty good mood right now because I finally got my white rhino seeds going tonight. I knew i was going to grow them, I've had the seeds for a couple weeks, i've just waited because i didnt have soil and i wanted to get nutes too. Anyways I put nine white rhino seeds in a moist paper towel on a plate and put a bowl over them for a couple days. They've cracked their shell and got the white root out like an inch on some of them. Some of them even has little leafs coming out from the seed already, hopefully they'll be alright.

Earlier today I went to this hydro store and bought fox farm nutrients, and the guy that was helping me out gave me some free samples of solubles! He said they are pretty good like the foxfarm solubles. Along with the nutrients and free solubles i got some happy frog soil. He said it works pretty well and it was a little cheaper than the foxfarm ocean soil so i said what the hell. After using it it seemed like good stuff. Then i got a bag of clay balls to keep over the soil so the soil why dry out as fast. He also gave me 10% off so overall it wasnt too pricey! That's why i keep going back there though, good prices and knowledgeable staff, plus they give me deals, its awesome.

So I took my 9 white rhino seeds and got them in my closet under a 10,000 lumen t5 system, 6400K blue spectrum. I wanted to put it with the other four Steadman but i wanted to get these going. Or should I combine the lights and put the seedlings under them both? Or should i let the plants grow under just the t5 for a little while and then when they get big enough bring them over to the 1000 watt? I dont know which would be better for my seedlings.

Its a good feeling when you get another grow started because its a whole new process, you start over from scratch and try to improve from the mistakes you made. The mistakes I made were clear to me after harvesting my last grow. I only got maybe two ounces from 6 auto ak47 plants. The temperature was always way too hot, usually over 90 degrees. There was not enough circulation through the room, mostly not taking the hot air out by the top. There was a fan to blow on the light and a fan below to circulate air at the bottom by the plants to make the plants stems thick, which was a bright spot but without an outtake it just isnt as good. I also gave them too many nutes in the beginning with bone meal and putting to much in the soil. The good thing is know i've learned whats to do and what not to do. I mean I know I dont know everything but i know im not going to make these mistakes again. I got a chart to follow on the nutes and im buying a fan to get the air out of the room. After that, it should be in a lot better shape. Anyways, thanks for checking this out, i'll update soon

So I go into my closet to check out my babies this morning and two things are not right!

There are holes dug into my white rhino pots and the t5 lights aren't working and who is the culprit?!? The fucking cat

My fucking cat got in there and i should have known it sooner but i remember setting everything up last night and saying to my girlfriend," i dont think she'll get in there..." And what do i see when i wake up? A bunch of dug up pots, but im happily relieved that there is only one seedling that i couldnt find, so now that leaves 8. I was so fucking pissed but cooled down after i found out most of them we're okay. But that still leaves my t5 lights that do not work. They are sending me a new setup and that should be here in a couple days but im wondering if my seedlings will be okay under the 1000 watter. They are at least 5 feet away from the light but i dont have anything else.

Anyways i got another fan in there to keep the temperature down so hopefully it will be okay. Dumb cat!

Anybody else have problems with cats? This stupid cat is obsessed with going in our room in the closet so she can be with the plants and fuck em up! Its so annoying! The door doesnt close all the way so i have to stack a bunch of shit in front of the door just so she cant get in, but she still tries! Fuck!

keep your babies under just those t5's for at least 2-3 weeks... i would make it 4 and then introduce the hps for two more weeks. during those two weeks i gradually transition the lights to 12/12. once i hit 12/12 my plants show sex in 5-7 days. and introducing the hps at the end of veg only will maximize internodal growth without stretching your plant out.

my dog could help out with the cat problem... although he may eat your plants too.

Thanks for the advice steadman, im gonna do that. It sucks because my seedlings are under the 1000 watter since the t5 doesnt work and it wont be until tomorrow that i can put my seeds under there. They're sending me a new one. Its gets really dry in the room and im hoping they arent fried. A few of them are coming out of the soil but not much. The rest are still under and i planted them a few days ago. Are they fried?
