It does get rather warm in this region.
I'm zone 8, bit also in Jefferson.

Looking at the temps you Cali guys are having, I feel like I should look for a sweater. lol

Down here in Florida {after a half dozen folks have ask if it is hot enough for you} we are fond of saying "it's not the heat, it's the stupidity that gets you."

Warm in the garden this morning. At 1700 it's partly cloudy, 92F with 52% humidity. Forecast high/low of 96/73F with 30% chance of rain tonight. {I do hear thunder though} 10 day high/low of 96/72F with 10 days of possible rain.

We have got a shower or two the last few days. But not much to it.

We had a lot of rain the last month or so. That tropical shit started it, but it kept on just long enough to fuck up most of my squash. Then it dried out for a couple of weeks. Now we have the chance of thunderstorms everyday, but it often doesn't amount to much. I'm in the Sandhills of NW Florida, and we need a rain at least once a week, or it gets too dry.

Dang, you are in NW Florida? You must not be far from Vernon, a place that intrigued me when I saw the documentary of the same name by Errol Morris almost 40 years ago. Wild turkey country.

Could hit 49 overnight here in the northeast tonight. Gonna be sunny low 80s tomorrow, soon as the sun hits the ladies, they'll be up. Even though might get a little cold overnight.

We have a saying about guys like that. He came down here with a white shirt and 20 dollar bill. He's been here twenty years and hasn't changed either.
That movie is gold. So many characters. Now I imagine you, too Larry, as the hunter Snake, in his camo and with his stern gaze. But seriously that soil where they show the turkey tracks looks awful. Kudos if you can pull any plants out of that.

Ugh you ain't lying brotha. Yesterday hit 111° and humidity said 9% but I'd be willing to bet anything it was more like 30%+. Time to go mix these nutes and get ready to feed these girls, gonna be a hot one again. I'll snap some pics when the sun comes up
I used to own a convertible when I lived in Arkansas. In the summer I often found myself pulling over to put the top UP in hot weather, for exactly that reason; wind plus heat is no longer 'wind chill' but 'convection oven'. That's exactly what I called it!

Looks like a serious heat wave coming our way in New England, a week in the 90's, with Sunday hitting 100. Should we be watering every day?
Depends.

Factors to consider:
  • Plant size
  • Amount you normally water
  • Container size, if any
  • Soil/substrate type
  • Weather conditions including temperature, humidity, cloud cover
