Foxfarm ocean forest and coco coir

I bought coco coir and ffof. I use for medical reasons and need to start growing. I read it somewhere its good for 50/50 mix do i need to add nutes to it still like for veg stage and bloom stage or does it have enough? My first time growing and i cant find the web page i found before that said to use this. I used just the coco coir for the seedlings but once it has leaves and needs to be transplanted i will do that but didnt know if it will need any nutes and if so what kinds should i get? I'm in portland oregon.

Those bagged soils are not usually complete and need nutrient boosts. You are better off finding some local compost and worm castings, IMO. Fox farm is also owned by Monsanto, so you might not even want to use that. If you must buy bagged soil, Roots Organic 707 is the way to go.

you should be ok. just remember to start off slow when giving it nutrients and work your way up

I've had plants go from 2 weeks to 6 weeks in veg not needing newts in ffof, it depends on the strain, I don't know about adding cocoa to it, good luck!

FFOF usually has enough to carry through the first couple of weeks of vegetative growth, but when you mix it with coco 50:50, you're cutting that down a bit. Don't worry about the whole monsanto stuff, you'll grow fine in it this round and then be prepared to recycle it for future grows. the foxfarm nutrients are salty so be prepared to monitor your pH a lot.

You can always go easy on yourself and use neptune's harvest or some other fish hydrolysate along with some kelp based plant food. Get a bag of earthworm compost (EWC) and mix some into the top couple of inches of soil in your container (aka top dressing with ewc).

i'd also recommend getting some 200x aloe juice flakes so you can reconstitute the aloe juice and spray your vegetative plants with it once in a while (foliar feeding) and also use it as a soil drench once in a while. its a good plant tonic.

look into the organics forum here especially at the AACT thread to get some good microbial life going in your medium. take care of your microbial hoard and they'll take care of you.
