I'm not the best grower and I don't know it all but you are on your first grow....man, you really don't know shit....
what I can't figure out is why so many care if one flushes or not
because an awful lot of animosity towards those (like me) that insist flushing is a good thing

I water with spring water from Walmart (tap water too hard) and I use collected rainwater but I flush with distilled water
some I know (with super soil) use distilled water all the time
get a life beyond this site...I'm pretty much outta here....too many assholes!

Flushing is by all and any means; the blockage of the nutrient source. Youre not removing shit from the plant, youre not removing shit from the soil. Youre stopping new shit from entering the plant from the soil. So you won't be smoking Iv bag vitamin nitrate bud. Same reason we harvest at night. Plant isn't in the middle of pulling and processing nutes.
My fresh weed tastes just fine before dried. The most basic sugary hashy flavors, just like smoking hash in the 80s. Why doesn't everyone's? CUZ THEY DONT FLUSH.
If you think weed flavor is about "smoothness" or coughing,or the temperature of the smoke etc, you do not have a clue and néed to quit growing. The flavors are distinct. Hash flavors in wet , sour in cured. Almost like real bud is good from the start and even better after fermented.. While all the bottle feeders are struggling to get the nute taste in their dusty powdery oilless airbud covered up for 3 months after chop, talking about "smoothness" hahaha, calling that "curing".
When I couldn't grow i threw away more weed than I smoked. Why? BECAUSE THEY DONT FLUSH AND ITS UNSMOKABLE

Plant processes don't stop because it's dark. They actually do a lot of work at night.
As far as taste/quality ... Mother Nature never flushed a plant ever. She grows some pretty good shit. And not just cannabis.
I agree with you in that you can't remove nutes.
Plants store waste in their tissue everywhere.
A week or days of just water doesn't do anything to mitigate that.
But people do think it does. Especially newbs.
I got nothing against flushing. It makes some people feel good. Like praying.
Whatever gets you through the night.
Like most things, there's more than one way.
Do what works for you.
But I'll always tell the new guy learn to feed first and foremost.
If you do that right you'll be golden whether you flush or not.

I just harvested my crop and didn't flush. No problems what so ever. passed all the tests, tastes amazing.

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but 99% of dispensary weed tastes like ass. Sounds like you over feed too. My bud after drying taste just fine before I cure it. You old fuckers like to keep on this stuff but I could care less if you do or don’t flush. Everything I grow gets tested is fire ass weed rock hard nuggets. If your not dumping a huge amount of nutrients into the soil you shouldn’t need to flush. You unfortunately don’t gasp the concept that the chlorophyll is what makes that weird taste. I use a one part nutrient from start to finish dirt cheap too. I don’t fuck with the fancy bottles of water in my rooms. Did I ever say anything about coughing? Nope I didn’t nor did I say anything about temperature. The only time I worry about temp is in my vaporizer. Also you have obviously haven’t read the horse shit some of these flushing guys push. They’re claiming you can flush the nutrients out of I distinctly said you can’t flush anything from the plant. But I’ll give you a pass you might not have had your transition lenses on at the time and didn’t see that.

A lot of new growers have this idea they can stuff plants full magic potions or super duper bud blasters at 5.5 ec and as long as they use water the last week it's cleaned out, have you seen white ash forum yet. That's clean bud except the ash of plants contains calcium carbonate as its major component, 25 or even 45 percent. 10 percent is potash, and less than 1 percent phosphate; there are trace elements of iron, manganese, zinc, copper.

Flushing is always subjective , if your plant is fed properly instead of throwing the kitchen sink at it , it will pan out in the harvest. I don't know any outdoor growers digging up their plants and " flushing " or fork lifting their 100 gallon grow bags just to flush. You spew nonsense and your grows show it ..... Cardboard plant reflector , mercury thermometer from dollar tree , single CFL ( wtf is that ? ) , China crap lights ......
PLUS you do the TOTAL NOOB SHIT of taking a bud shot holding a soda can or lighter.
Your setup speak volumes ...
If you came into the op's thread with a positive vibe then you wouldn't come off as such a knob.
Again ... Flushing the medium does nothing to reduce / curb / dilute or whatever to what the plant has stored within. Heavily fed plants will burn fucked up and not stay lit. Next you will be saying to drive a nail in the stalk , 3 days in the dark before chop , boil the roots.
