New to LEDs

I was told by someone from hlg to dim using the current pot. Apparently in some cases using the voltage pot can cause the lights to blink at lower power settings.

I wanted to post a few pictures from my cheap ass, Chinese made LED’s. These are about 6 weeks old from seed. Topped once. I just began LST. I have two lights 185 watts each. I try keep the light 18in from most tops. As you can see theres not really any stretching, and growth is fast... I’m just posting because of all the hate because I went cheap up front. Not that I need to defend myself, but I broke my hand around Christmas and haven’t been able to work since then (hopefully next week) I chose to use cheap lights because $200 is a quarter of what I really wanted to spend. So it was either wait 3 months to grow, or initially go cheap to at least veg the plants. Also in my opinion these lights would be great for supplemental lighting. Stop the hate!

I just ordered a quantum board light, it should be here any day... but I wanted to show an update of my plants that are still under the cheap $100 LEDs. 3rd week of flowering. I’ll snap a few more before I turn on the new light, then I’ll show a few days after the quantum board has been on✌️

Just got my new light setup, so I wanted to do some before and after comparison photos. This is how my plants have done under just the cheap Chinese made LEDs. I’ll post a few pictures next week after the plants adjust to the new light.

I never said you did, bro.

You're right. They say their 185 watt light is equivalent to a 1000, which is so much better.

I'm not mad. I'm stating facts. I don't know how you got the two twisted.

Yeah, which is why I suggested he save another couple hundred bucks. That's not out of the realm of being possible. Or he can buy the light you suggested(one you haven't even flowered with yet but are recommending anyway), realize a few months from now that it's inefficient, and then spend the money to get a legit light.

That's what I'm doing. And here you are arguing with me about it.

Strips and drivers. Or a couple of Sunboards. Shit, even though it's currently sold out(they sell out quick for a reason), the 135w QB kit from HLG would crush those King Plus lights. But yeah, it's $185 and there is no way the op could scrape that extra cash together.
pls just stop. i think 185W is not enought for 1000W replacement. my own opinion

No offense, you seem like a nice person, but this mindset is the reason the majority of first time growers have failures and give up. If you can't be bothered to wait until you are ready to do something to the best of your ability you can expect disappointing results. Growing high quality cannabis requires some dedication, willingness to learn, and a lot of patience. If someone chooses to buy a crappy light because waiting until they can save an extra 80 or 100 bucks is too much to ask, they've already demonstrated that they are impatient and lack foresight.
Hi, you are good guys, are you interested in joining the activity of growth of marijuana with LED grow light

I think where many people are going wrong is not having a specific goal of what they are building.

I start from the perspective, of let's say I need to cover x by x square feet.
What size HPS would ordinarily be used for this space?
How many lumens does the HPS put out ( I know it isn't scientific, but I think it has been established the LEDs have better spectrum, so it is used as a worst case scenario)

Your LED fixture is not going to be far from these requirements, for similar yields.
Work out how many COBS or strips you will need to produce the same output over the same square feet.
It is better to err on the side of overkill, as the higher you need to hang the light the deeper it penetrates the canopy.

the led seller will told you about the quantity

Update: buds are extremely dense. They feel like Little Rock’s. Penetration from the quantum board is amazing. All my lowers are just as dense as my tops. I’ve defoliated twice during flowering, but light reaches all the way to the soil. I’ll be chopping in a few weeks. I’ll update with yield and grams per watt then✌️

What do you. Use?

Can you recomend something more efficient than this with better outcome?

I just use cheap stuff from amazon usually. Been thinking about trying the Quantum Boards which is probably what others would recommend.

4x4 is a huge space lol I have a 4X2 but the speed haze was grown in a 16inch x 16inch x 4 foot. I usually get over a half a gram per watt, with the cob pulling maybe 160watt at the wall, I was right around 90 grams for that plant.
