Ready to grow kits?

Hello everyone!
I've decided on the idea of growing indoors since I'm currently in my own home with a few extra bedrooms. I wanted to do something small, 4-6 plants maybe? I do see a lot of full, ready to grow kits (minus the seeds) but don't know which would suit the needs of a SUPER beginner grower. Also, how do your electricity costs look before/after you began growing?

Appreciate any and all info!
I'll be reading amongst the forums!

Energy use depends I can’t remeber what my bills use to be. I run solar on my house. As for kits I’d convert a room. I built my rooms from scratch had geothermal put in for them and are completely controlled. Rooms can be much better to control than tents.

There are energy calculators online. Your electric bill will have the charge per kilowatt hour. Find that and figure the different systems operating costs. Agree with Lordhooha on forgetting a kit.

LED lights are reasonable to operate. So are CFL or T5 to start. Otherwise suggest 315CMH. You can do the complete grow under one.

Smart pots or fabric bags beat buckets. 5 gallon or bigger.

Ok so scratch the Buy and grow kits lol
I’m leaning towards LED lighting due to the lower heat amongst other positives. I can’t dedicate a full room to growing because my lady won’t allow it lol. The tent seemed nice to have in the corner of my game room. If I build the whole setup do you guys have favorite go-to videos or lists? Sorry for so many questions I want to do everything correct the first time.

I just recently purchased the UFO MaxYield 300W LED dual exhaust from unique-hydroponics.com and Gods honest truth couldn't be any more happier with the purchase. Came fully assembled other than hanging the MarsHydro 300W LED it shipped seperate from box, but literally took 10 seconds to hang. Also comes with GeneralHydroponics nutrients(grow, bloom, micro) net pots co2 tablets ph leveling tablets air stone everything highly recommend if you're looking for a smaller setup

These are my new babies growing strong. Had to make a few modifications over time had trouble with light shining through the lid and around sides of reservoir so I just took some really heavy duty duct tape and mummified the dam thing. Worked Great! Just looks shotty lol Had to buy a little longer bubbler stone as plants rooted and stretched just wanted to be sure roots got enough oxygen. That was only a 5 dollar fix along with duct tape mods not too bad for this box is capable of

If the above statement is true and the little lady is not fully supportive of this grow then do yourself a favor and just don't do it, nothing good can come from it.

There is a huge difference between his other half not wanting him to grow weed and not wanting him to take over a whole room. My wife loves that I grow all our weed, but she has no interest in me converting a guest room to a grow room.

So the answers to most of your questions kinda depends on your budget. If you can swing it and want to go LED, check out Timber Grow lights. I've heard nothing but great things about them. If that's too rich youycan start off with aa"blurple" Amazon LED, but they are definitely not as good. I just started using a 315 CMH and love it.

You also need to decide how big of a tent you want so you can choose an appropriate sized extraction fan and carbon filter. Are you thinking you will do soil or hydro?

Yeah she smokes as much if not more than I do lol. Growing isnt a problem but I want to keep it moderate for my first time lol. My budget is about 1200-1500 all in hopefully. Appreciate the review jdVICK! Im excited to grow! Definitely going to checkout your recommendations!

Came across the Superlocker 3.0 and everything about it seems so simple. Still learning about the “cloning” area it comes with to allow continuous harvesting. Everything sounds great about it and at $1600-$1700 it’s in the budget.

Good deal man I'm sure you've done your research on the box just make sure it has good reviews maybe even look up a few videos of people growing in whatever box your interested in sounds like you'll be trimming and curing buds in no time lol

Stay far far far away from MarsHydro. They will only leave you depressed on the investment versus yield. Look into HLG for quality boards. Tents are getting pretty cheep price wise, but you want to invest in lights that will last for years and years, versus lights that will burn out in a year or so. Just my 2 cents.

You should be able to put together a nice setup with your budget I was only working with about 700 bucks and this is what I got going on at the moment just please excuse all the duct tape lol looks kind of shotty just reinforced my reservoir a bit making dam sure I have no light shining through to my root zone, which is where those little covers at the bottom come into play I made those to lol shit looks like a scrap yard in there lol

Apologies Blake the MarsHydro is what I wound up with, with the budget I had I mean I'm not looking to make millions or award winning buds, buts here's what the MarsHydro 300W LED has done for me. And look I understand I don't have the best out there, not by a long shot, I just had to work with what I had and made dam sure I put forth the effort to make these buds the best they could be. That's SuperNova strain from my very first hydroponic grow. The 3 growing now is round 2, 2 OGKush and 1 SuperNova cutting from our first grow. 20180603_170244.jpg 20180603_171236.jpg 20180603_171255.jpg 20180603_172632.jpg

And as far as taste and effect of these SuperNova buds, shit is NARCOTIC as fuck a magic carpet ride while eating 2 scoops of ice cream covered in fudge, bowl filled with milk while snuggling in for bedtime, just shortly after cleaning shit with Qtips for 2 hours straight...make any sense?

This thing looks pretty slick but for the money you could put your own setup together and have much better lights, and more room. That locker seems to be designed for a quasi perpetual sea of green or something, which is fine if that's what you want do, but still, pretty damn pricey.

I dig the description for sea of green haha. Still on the fence because of how many “you can save so much” replies. Maybe I’ll write out a list, piece by piece, compared to Superlocker and see how it comes out. The automated ease that all the reviews rave about is enticing.
