Hi there,

This is a clone that has had a tough life so far, confusing overwatering with underwatering a month ago I'm happy that it's not dead, but I still don't know how much water to give it and how often. It's growing in a potting mix with slow release nutes, and I wonder if these have anything to do with the coloration.

I try and give it only small amount of water, because I'm scared of over watering, maybe 30 - 50 mls every other day. Does it need more water?20180516_180250.jpg 20180516_180313.jpg 20180516_180322.jpg

wood chips aren't good to have in your medium, they change the ph as they decay.
i'd add a little more perlite to that mix, and try to pick out as much of the wood as you can.
you want to water till you get a little run off, then wait till the pot is dry down to the middle knuckle of your index finger. that gives the roots time to breath, before you soak them again. after a while you can tell from the weight of your pots, feel how heavy they are when they're dry knuckle deep, and how heavy they are after you water. then you can start just feeling the pot, and don't have to keep sticking your finger in the soil, which can potentially disturb the roots
it also looks like your time release nutes are about exhausted, so its time to start feeding lightly. start at half of what ever nutes you're using says to use, and slowly work up from there.

Thanks for your response! There's a lot of woodchip in there, I'll have to wait until I repot to sort the perlite / woodchip ratio I think.

Everything else looks okay? I'm thinking the lack of significant growth and the yellowing of new growth over the last few days is from a lack of watering?

that and the time release nutes running out. it doesn't look under watered at the moment, but don't push it.

No, I use water from the tap and I don't measure the pH as I have no means to do that. I bought a cheap soil measuring device but it doesn't do the job.

I'll be getting a bucket to put my water in so at least I can let the chlorine dissolve a bit and minimise that aspect.

I'll have to repot once it's big enough, I don't want to put this plant through any more stress than I already have!

wow, that last pic looks like death, good job bringing it back! I would toss that bitch and start over, but if you want to push it, I suggest buying some real cannabis growing medium and nutrients, re-potting and hope for the best

Forget about the bucket, chlorined water doesn't make an appreciable difference (despite what everybody thinks), but for 10 or 12 bucks get a yello pH meter! ..that's going to be the biggest single thing you can do to help your grow!!!:hump:

..that and get a decent bag of dirt or it's not likely going to go well ?

Yeah I was told that I had over watered it, so then I let it dry out... ha :(

Okay I'll get a pH meter and some better soil for repotting. Is peaty soil okay? Or should I go to a store and buy some special stuff?

Pretty much everything you buy for growing cannabis that is a soilless mix will have wood in it to a certain degree Wouldn't worry about it too much. Definitely get a ph metre, letting your water stand for 24 hours will evaporate the chlorine, it will kill off good bacteria, wether it's enough to make a difference who knows as iv always done it. Good job bringing that back to life,well done.get a light mix type soilless mix, ff or bio bizz etc

You really have to get serious about checking things - ph / feed / watering and such.
Going into it blind and guessing will do nothing but waste your time ....

If that plant recovers , it would be a damn miracle. It has probably stressed to the point of going to hermie city or just stall out. She is yellow because she is hungry ( struggling) to pull nitrogen out of the medium and get a watering ( PH'd to ALLOW nitrogen to be absorbed fully ).

It's a learning thing but if plant gets screwed like a pooch from the get go , it more than likely will not be a great end product.

Go get the ph pen , grab a SIMPLE NUTE brand ( Dr.Earth , MEGACROP, GH , etc. ) , CALMAG ( useful during grow ) , Ph up / Ph down to adjust water , Good soil ( bagged ) - PROMIX , sunshine number 4 , Dr. Earth veg garden mix ( like 7 bucks at Home Depot ) , Fox Farms Ocean , Happy Frog , Black Magic , etc.

Marijuana is highly resilient, but NEEDS what it needs to grow.

Your grows look EXCELLENT!

I'm not a local so some of that stuff is a little trickier to get, if I use something a little different it's not cos I'm ignoring recommendations but more down to finance / viability / discretion.

Thanks for your information! Gonna get a decent pH pen tomorrow and some pH updown and some calmag.

That soil looks very much like some of the bagged commercial "soil" sold here at garden stores and sone grocery stores. More dyed wood chips and peat than anything. I tried a bag for beets in my veggie garden last year. Not one seed germinated.
If its possible ( the experienced growers here would know ) to repot i think that would be a good way to go. But i'm too green to know for sure so just ignore that :bigjoint:

I love the organic feed I am using on my plants at the moment. A local product looks and smells like kelp almost.
I'm not even pHing, and it is making huge leaves. I was amazed how big the plants got when I took cuttings last night.
Was able to take a few decent sized cuts.

Once you start pHing, you need to continue or you will get swirly leaves.

I'm not sure why people PH in soil for. Maybe if your in dirt but most bagged soils are fairly neutral and the swings can be fairly large.
I'd say a water meter is a better investment that a PH probe.

But we all do our thang differently.

I would say if you have consistent water through the year, you need to do at least one run with pH and ppm meters so you can see what the effect of your actions are both in the short term and longer.

Yes I have an organic seaweed fert that seems to be an organic cal-mag, I'll probably be using that at some point.

How do I quote people?

You pH in soil otherwise your pH can swing all over the place anyway, different stuff in the soil breaks down at different rates, and the variance within soil types is sometimes large enough to be an issue. See my plants above and you'll see why xD

What do you mean by a water meter?
