Driving cree cxb3950 hard? thats an expensive, inefficient rig.

Luminus cxm22 @1400ma is the best option or vero 29c @1400ma.

Driving the 3590 at 1400 or 1750mA is driving it hard? At 50w 3590 comes out over all the other cobs

all other cobs at what current? or the same 50w. There are plenty of chips that can outperform cree at the same current for less cost.

The cma3090 is cheaper and around the same efficiency over 1400ma as the 3950 but then again the cxm22 still outperforms both as does the vero 29c. Both cheaper too.

Comparing lumens doesnt work as them numbers are probably off datasheets with different Tjs, colour temps even.

@cxb3950 is old news unless you can get them a £15 a chip and ill stick buy that.

Yes it does work. Obviously if he's making a comparison he's going to apply the same conditions to each COB. You can look it up yourself. I believe Ledgardener as he has provided tons of excellent advice and tends to know what he's talking about. After 50w the clu048-1818 is the top runner.

I do agree they are pretty pricey and I personally wouldn't go with them.

Do you know a reputable site to order from that sells for reasonable prices? I checked out Digikey and their prices are ridiculous, going for $50 a piece

You could try to PM Cobkits and see when he will be getting more in stock, and what the major difference would be running 80cri instead of 90cri. I couldn't answer on that. I know its not much

I have 4 1818's on an hlg 240h c1050b and they are too much,I have to run at 75%.Any higher gives light burn,these are 3000k 90cri.

How big is your room?

Also kaldzzz I was looking and 90 has a bit less luminous flux than the 80cri so maybe a ratio of 2:1 or so to maximize the cobs. The color spectrum isnt all that different.

This array is in a 4x4 along with an 8 strip sol strip 3k&4k and a 150 watt homebuilt cob spotlight array

I think I’m gonna settle on 15x 3590s and drive them with 3x 240/1400s.. do you know how much cfm I require for the set up and whand carbon filter to use?
