On Tuesday when I checked on the sprouts, another one had died from heat and lack of water. It was in the far corner, and maybe I just didn't get enough water in the cup when I was watering. The bad news is it was a BOG Life Star. That really sucks. {1 AC f1 and 1 BOG LS killed this round. 1 AC f2 killed the 1st round}

But I did have a Skunk X Shit/Skunk sprout to replace it. Speaking of replacements, The new sprouts have been coming at the same rate as others die, so I haven't needed the space between the trays like I thought i would. I only have one extra sprout (and one late sprout from the last round}, so I put it on the end, brought the trays together, and was able to get rid of one of the shop lights. This makes it easier to reach the far ones. I also adjusted the gap at the top to allow for more air flow, and turned up the fan a notch. And I'm using 3 coffee cups of water per tray instead of two. There were none dead this morning when I checked on them, so maybe the changes are helping.

Last week I had dug 4 holes. I dug 2 more at that location, but I ran into termites in one hole. Can't use it now. So 5 there. Just a ways down from there I cut a few more trees and got 4 singles and one double dug. I cut a shit ton of sweet gum. Still plenty there. One big ass sweet gum tree I started ringing. Didn't get it finished. Worked on them late yesterday and early this morning.

I'm calling this patch GV.

An early morning trip to HG, HGNW, HGSW & BP patches this morning. Most looking real good. Some funky and uneven growth after topping on a couple three of them. And a few are sexually mature now. Time to spread their proverbial legs and see what the Good Lord gave them.

And I was wrong about Mystery Plant #1 not taking the Boggle Gum pollen. I saw a few seeds growing on closer inspection. You might not can see them in the picture, but there are a few there.

Here is one of the funky topped ones. I think all 3 of the Possum Shunk 1.5's were effected to some degree. Maybe this strain isn't a good one to top.

^^^^^^^But the 3 Possum Shunk 1.5's were the ones I sprayed down good with the stinky stuff. Might be a side effect of that for all I know.

Over in the BP patch, the CP1 X B&S and (CP1 X B&S) X PC are both getting tall. I'm leaning toward doing no LOB work on them. They are in older pines, and are going to need to get tall to get the sun they will need at flower. But I picked the first huckleberries of the season this morning. I hope the cousins find plenty of berries close to their camp. lol

Looking at the order of my pictures, those three might be the 3 Poly Shunk 1 f2's. I saw good looking ones where the 3 Possum Shunk 1.5's are {going by the order of the pictures} I need to take notes. lol

I'm pretty sure this is one of the Possum Shunk 1.5's, grown in the hole that the mother plant was in last year. [(triangle kush cookies X nightcap X sinmint) X shit/skunk] And you can see two good tops.

Here is what the 3 Possum Shunk 1.5's are growing in. Planted pines were clear cut a few years back and not replanted. These pines are all volunteers. I have so much side coverage of this one, I'm pulling it forward to get more sun.

The doubles are smaller. This is (GdR X PC) X (Af X Sh/Sk). {I think. But it could be (Skunk X Sh/Skunk) X (Poly Shunk 1) Anyway it's in the HGNW patch next to the deer hair hole}

so i went into the woods today and actually found several places to grow outdoors. very good coverage, but probably only receiving 6-8 hours of direct sun. found a couple of other spots that could receive more sun, but they are a longer walk.

as i was out searching, i realized you guys work hard. especially if you are watering. watering would be an absolute necessity around here and probably every single day in the heat of summer. i have lost interest in most spots because of this very problem.

with that said, there are spots right along several creeks that receive about the same, 6-8 hours direct sun. if i do decide to put some plants out, i will have to plant along the creek so that visits are not required frequently.

now the real questions. i already know deer can be a problem, but what about hogs? in my traversing today i came across plenty of hog signs...

i have a couple pheno types of mk-ultra i am not real happy with, so the mothers are perfect candidates to take the risk.

i just happen to have a few extra sour wrecks and sour diesel clones also, so those mothers who are started to suffer indoors in a 1 gallon pot could go out also.

the locations i speak of are not so far away that i can't pack in a shovel, some manure and a few other soil amendments. of course the plants in 1 gallon containers and probably several trips with water after the inital transplanting.

the only thing that could stop them is everything. lol... drought, deer, hogs? rabbits? flood . forgot to mention the creek comes out the banks in the spring. could happen another time or two.

Yes, I've heard of hogs fucking with patches. We see a wild hog once in a while, but most of the farmers around me are hunters too. So they don't stay around too long.

Creeks are good for planting along. Better than depending on rain catchers, which only work when it rains. But you are not going to be the first person to figure this out. Law and rippers know the same thing. So find spots with good cover, and a stealthy way for you to get in and out. And since you mentioned floods, you might want to hedge your bets and put a few on higher ground.

Most covert gardeners don't use any smelly organic ferts. The time release stuff works, so it gets used a lot. Use as much of the native soil as you can. Mix in perlite or vermiculite as needed. And plant 3-4 times as much as you want to harvest.
