People who didn't go to war or have immediate family die in war:
"fuck yeah let's go to war"
Veterans or those who lost someone or had sons return with missing limbs:
"Let's try to avoid it"
Those who make the decision to send others to war:
"I have bone spurs"

well said sir...

Longest war in history. Anyone have a count on how long this religious war has lasted? 1k? 2k? 5k years?

Trump hasn’t sent anybody into war that wasn’t started before he came into office so this goes in the “false” column, Alex

Sure. Makes sense. If you haven't served and you want peace they go together.

I really think that the ones that decide if we go to war should have served.

It's easy to send other people's kids to war.
I don't know about any of that. There are plenty who served but didn't see any action. Then again, the WWII generation didn't think twice about sending kids into Vietnam. Kennedy was a vet who got us into that mess. LBJ also served and may or may not have seen action but he was certainly not hesitant to use blood and bones of US citizens in a hopeless, meaningless war.

My representatives in congress may not necessarily be veterans of a war but I'd want them to be invested with the constitutional power to authorize one if necessary. Of course, we don't do that anymore so I guess I'm just being nostalgic about this.

We're talking about Iran, and so I will take this as your opposition to a US invasion of that country. Since you are predicting that bone spurs (who you support) will not choose to wage a war against Iran, I will expect that you don't move this out of your false Alex column. How's your family by the way?
So you want military rule instead of civilian?
That's not what he said. Please read comments before you reply to them, ya dingus.

No. I didn't say that.

Umm.

You know that Christians slaughtered people for how long?

Maybe brush up on history. Islam has a little ways to go before they catch up to Christians.

Maybe a mix of both is the best answer. There is no right answer. No one really wins in war.

I may have not seen combat but I know what it is to shed blood, sweat and tears.

I was worked like a machine in an under manned job. I know it's why I have bad knees and back.

Not that I'm complaining. I was raised around it and knew what I was getting in to.

I understand the concept of what you are saying but the premise is flawed. There are plenty of vets who support Trump. Not all of them are going to be for a war but there will be quite a few and they will be vocal about it.

Then there is this idea that only a person who'd been in a war "should" make the call. Because the president and congress alone have the power to declare war, that restriction would eliminate any candidate for congress or the presidency.

To me, the problem is the lack of honesty and intelligence in the GOP congress and the WH.

Obama quite rightly refrained from escalating US presence in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. Trump is talking about flooding Afghanistan with troops. I see the ability to make good decisions as the issue with who should make the call to declare war, not service time.

You mean that guy you bet against, lost, and then edited the bet?
Vice President Dick Cheney’s stock options in Halliburton rose from $241,498 in 2004 to over $8 million in 2005, an increase of more than 3,000 percent, as Halliburton continues to rake in billions of dollars from no-bid/no-audit government contracts.
Burnt any bodies lately ? Please don't tell me you dating again ?
