5x5 veros29SE D

Hi all, I posted long winded version of this is wrong forum section previously so will keep this version short.

Hoping someone can tell me the most efficient way to fill a 5x5 space with vero29SE's.
I'm planning on 16, and don't know how to make the calculation to get from cob info n driver info to ppfd. Wanted at 750ish across 5x5 space......if better range plz advise...open to changing number of cobs, I just want high quality light with excellent coverage....last grow used a kind xl 750.....rookie purchase...4x4 feet my aR$e.

Thanks very much for ur time.

@RainDan @CobKits a bit of help for this gentleman .:)

If anyone does actually notice this post my objective is to get the desired 700+ ppfd with as little watts used as possible as I want to replicate this space x 4 with a veg area half the size. If I have to increase cobs n run at 700ma is fine. I saw a ten cob set up at cutter that says the cobs are run at 23 watts each but 230watts in a 5x5 just sounds like it's not enough :/ anywho.....any help is greatly appreciated :/

Hello @regulate23

For a 5'x5' area, we recommend around 900 watts to generate PPFD levels in the 900-1000 µmol/m²s range. We use Vero type C COBs @ 100 watts each to most effectively deliver that at canopy heights of 18-24" with reflectors.

Feel free to let me know if you have any additional questions.

Have a good day.

Best Regards,
Dan

So 9 cobs at 100watts each?

Does that provide sufficient coverage with so few cobs, I thought it was better to have 12 or 16 in this size space?

Thanks for reply too really appreciate it

No problem - happy to help. Normally growers are running the 12-16 COB designs at 12-18" above canopy during flowering - we recommend running the 9 COB design a little higher - 18-24" above canopy (with reflectors) during flowering to properly spread the light evenly @ canopy level in order to mitigate hot/cold spots in your coverage.

just go hps mate as a grower that been doing this for more then 10 years leds a poo unless u bunch them and spend bout a grand what u would spend on any good led light u could have a nice hps/mh even cmh setup minus all the cords and bullshit that comes with leds

btw cheap leds will veg a plant just fine maybe cheap led veg hps flower

Have u gone full cycle with Cobs or quantum boards before too mate? I want to reduce energy consumption as much as possible is my main reason for heavily investigating the cobs etc, only grown one crop to date n was with led, didn't get a huge yield which is no surprise but response regarding quality was really positive.

All the cords where ? What bullshit? I don't even run cobs but the OP inquired so I tried to help, not convince him to go with my setup. So why try and push those hot , old , outdated hps lights on someone clearly interested in LED? Every thread it's the same crap... just why?? I truly don't understand.:(

To be honest what u gunna grow with that ? And yes they are bullshit there's many a issue u can run into with LEDs lights going out drivers burning out fans shitting themselves least if my hps fucks up its as simple as walking to my nearest hydro store and getting a new not boxing up and sending back to be fixed lol

guaranteed that will grow just as much bud using way less energy, Also what fans? there are no fans. That LED comes with a warranty so any problems can be fixed free of charge.

I get it, you're pretty much stuck in the past. Btw I'm growing melvanetics , Mel's punch, big worms, calypso voodoo, and thugs purple drank breath. With no heat issues and less energy than your hot lighting will use. I'm not worried about a fan burning out because it doesn't come with one. I'm also under a 3 year warranty so I'm not worried about any of that other stuff either. I wouldn't waste my time on those old fossil hps lights.

Just wondering @RainDan, I'm going to run with what you've suggested as it is cheaper to set up that 12-16up too, not to mention you clearly know what your talking about. I'm in AU n cutter seem to only have the d bin chips, if I ordered them from kingbrite is this the exact chip I want : BXRC -35E10K0-C-80-SE? With the 90 degree Angeline reflector n adaptor? Thanks again.

Sorry @RainDan excuse my ignorance, I didn't realise you were from a company, if I have to ship them from China I may as well ship them from the states as provided me with the support

Word. I think everyone seems to miss the big picture.. Energy savings, Heat reduction, etc...Hell the heat was the main reason for me to go led... I'm of the opinion that for flowering it's best to go watt for watt with the HIDs. But the heat reduction saves tons on AC allow me to have to vent less. For veg..A no brainier.. For flowering if you can afford the initial investment then go for it.
