How much space do you have? What exactly are you trying to accomplish. Not really one right answer to your question.
sorry, i shouldve specified. have a 4x2 space with 7 plants. i plan on letting some of them grow, and finding out their sex then either dump/keep them. not gonna have more then 5 when it comes flowering time. i'm not looking for alot, just atleast around an ounce or two i'd be happy with.

I have 7 females in my 4x4 currently in 5gal pot.. and close to about 100 days since seeds- soon harvest.. the 5gal pot is totally fine but I feel im pretty limit im sure I have full roots in the pot but Ill see when I cut them.. so 5 gal you will be fine.. if youd use 1-2-3 plants id problem suggest little bigger pots as you would have to veg longer to have them cover your space.. I also highly recommend air pot/smart pot or homemade air pot..

I prefer 7 gallon cloth pots. The cloth ones are the best to use imo.

I like 5 gallon cloth pots, but I also keep my plants pretty small because I have limited vertical space. Also, just FYI, depending on the rest of your setup, you should kill your one to two ounce target with that space.

What strain are you growing?

I have like 3 roots in the bottom of my one gallon pot after 4 weeks. What you need roots for anyways? :blsmoke:

I veg my soil room for a bit and once they’re done the cloth pots are so hard you can’t even squeeze them because there’re so full of root. It’s not always getting size like vice said bigger roots the better they can be.

The best starter roots I have grown are when using my new method; LPA (low pressure aero) + HPA (high pressure aero) mist heads on a deep cycle timer. wet/pause time is ~ 3 seconds//20 minutes.
At this stage I transfer to my DIY F & D

Yeah OP before you buy pots find out the measurements. Its not possible to fit 7 5gal pots in a 2x4 unless you are talking meters not feet?

If you need to max a space out hydro can be helpful :)

This isnt the prettiest but it shows what can be done ....my old small grow box set up (first run in my big room so i used my old setup)

This set up was originally built for my 5x5x5 grow box and i basically filled a 4x7.5 net

Pot size depends on the medium and other factors. You can easily grow trees in 3 gallon pots of coco. With soil you'll want bigger pots. It also depends on how long you veg before flower as well.

Sorry, I forgot to answer the OPs question

Look up Air Pots. They work great , and will last for many grows (sorry no picks in action). I stuffed mine with lots of polished rock/stones and used a Hydro Halo drip rings over a one gallon pot

Here's the stones in a F & D tote, but the principal and technique are the same in Air Pots

I start in 3" net pots (see pic). When ready I transfer them into a one gallon net pot lid which fits perfectly. I then side fill with more stones and lower onto the one gallon AP. add the Hydro Halo drip ring and let er rip

Im going to go back to it next grow at least in one tent

Many factors are involved in my equation for final pot size selection....
First and most important is the amount of time available to VEG said pot. Since I am always manipulating plant sizes, due to working with a limited plant count in a two room perpetual system, the final pot size can range from the 3gal gap filler, to the occasional 10gal behemoth footprint wrecker....Most of the time its 3 or 5 gal.
Different soil mix ratios, as far as perlite level, amount of Coco, or Peat based mediums have varying effect on the speed of root development....
Whenever one gets cut down, a new clone replaces it in the cycle. After two weeks the fully rooted clone is potted into a 1gal square nursery pot where it will grow roots until the timing is right to decide which pot and which medium to finish in...... which could be straight Coco, 40/40/20 Soil/coco/perlite, sometimes Soil only, depends on how much time I have before the next section in the Flowering area is open.....

Feeding and watering can get a little nutty with different mediums, and pot sizes, but I've gotten pretty good at keeping it rolling smoothly....

I use a 5ltr pot the whole grow getting more in my grow space and will still pull x2 the amount my mates does in 20ltr

Bigger pots = bigger plants but when running coco or nft size is not a issue but if in soil bigger is better
