Alright so, introducing my cabinet experiment:

Goal - to learn how to grow nice smoke indoor & save $ on weed

Dimension - 80cmx60x60 kitchen cabinet

Lighting - currently 1x 125w CFL @ 6400k under a reflector

Cooling - 2x 12cm computer fans



Strain - White Rhino

Organic soil grow, mango and banana peels buried in soil, bat guano. Soil is Plagron Royal mix.

Had a slow start under a 28w cfl but she's growing nice under the 125w cfl. The light puts out a bit of heat but for now 2 pc fans keep temps 25-29.

Currently 5 weeks old, will top her and begin LST soon. I'm pretty excited

Week 6 now and I'm not super impressed by how much growth I'm getting but intersting to see her grow so compact and get a bit bushier.

I've started LST and topped her for the first time also.

I'm going for some precise LST for maximum light absorbtion to work with the shit penetration of the cfl. She's beautiful and I adore her

You can also see where I topped her, maybe I was a bit rushed, the cut isn't super clean... Maybe its FIM'd, we see what grows in it's place

Dug away some soil underneath the plant and moved the light to back of the cabinet. Reflector is touching back of cabinet and 100% of airflow now goes through the plant. Temps have dropped slightly, between 20-25 degress now. Can see the leaves gently swaying in the breeze. She's reacting well to LST and looks like 3 shoots will grow where I topped her

Gave a slight feed of N and adjusted my "stakes" to keep her tied down. There's slight yellowing of the bottom 2 leaves but kt should be fine.

I'm looking in to a diy Co2 generator to run at night when the fans are off.

7 weeks old now and all appears good it's slow growth but looks healthy.

It's not quite so cold here so humidity has risen a bit.

Pretty much week 8 and she's a mum.

Took her out of the pot to add some more soil mixed with a little bat guano and a banana skin. Raised the plant 2 inches and she gets nice airflow. Root system looks healthy

Took 3 cuttings, have made some space as was getting a bit bushy and overcrowded. Not sure if my cupboard has the right conditions for clones but I'll try. Free topping at the same time

Clones are looking good, a nice light green tinge and roots shouldn't be far away now

Growing with CFL is ok, I love checking up on her and adjusting my pegs for LST for maximum light efficiency etc it just doesn't seem efficient.

The lush green growth is nice and with LST and topping I can currently create a nice veg environment but am not prepared for bloom yet. It makes sense to me to upgrade the light and filtration and use this cfl in another cabinet for veg only. HPS or LED for flower is tempting me.

My friend has 2 GG4 from dmann going now. He is doing lst & topping so I was thinking about grabbing some.. I will have an empty tent and have gen hydro plugs to use...

I had some peat pellets laying around, wet them, cut the clones and trimmed leaves, dipped in cloning gel and all appears good so far.

Trimmed her a little and working on training. Starting to get fat

Still no sign of roots from clones but they're a week old and look fine so far.

Nice. Is that 80cm wide, or 80cm tall? What HPS/LED are you thinking of using to replace the CFL?

60x60 footprint and 80 tall. I haven't made up my mind for a light replacement yet. I may end up using a 125w cfl bulb in 2700k so I can do a complete cfl grow and then compare. Unless I find a suitable upgrade.

They work really well, almost silent too. The 125w cfl puts out a bit of heat so keeps things comfortable. Super easy to set up too.

What kit did you use for seedling/Veg and Flowers? Setting my 1st grow up in a few weeks when I get funds for the kit.. either white Rhino/Widow or some Kush.. plenty time to decide yet my main focus is on getting set up ✌

Well it's clear that you're not afraid to DIY, so have a look at some of the LED builds over in the LED sub-forum. Or, if initial cost is a barrier, a 150w HPS would do justice to that space. Not saying you can't get results with 125w of CFL, but you'll definitely get more from LED (not the older blurple shit like Mars Hydro and their ilk) or HID! As a point of reference, I replaced a 250w HPS with one of these: https://horticulturelightinggroup.c...oducts/135w-led-board-kit?variant=31818307026, and I couldn't be more pleased with it. (But I know the up-front cost can be a hurdle for people on a tight budget.) However it goes, best of luck to you!

I gotta say, I'm Growing White Rhino now and my girl is 6 weeks old and is 10x bigger then these pictured. Maybe even 20x. I wonder if I just have a monster? Its my first time growing WR and i guess I'm not sure if they're typically small or large plants. I'm confused after seeing these pics. No disrespect intended, I'm just surprised in the difference.

Just a basic 28w cfl bulb in 6400k to begin with. It didn't give amazing results, but it worked... This 125w cfl works ok for a small set up but growing from seed appears to take forever. Now I have clones they should give better results.

You'll have time to find what suits you, you won't be disappointed by white rhino.
