he will be lucky to have anything if he has stored it away after only 2 days drying..First grow huh? I grew 7 leaves and 3 stems in a 2 gallon pot my first grow. WTF?
You don't dry for two days, weigh and store..unless you like mold.

You can dry it out enough to not mold in 2 days. Does make for a harsh smoke though.

I just got curious and took them down to weight, it's technically neither a wet or dry weight but somewhere in between. They are still drying and I've lost another 40 grams of weight. It's really dry where I am so I'm sweating them in jars for an hour or so and then dump out the bud and put either back in jar with the lid on if the outside isn't too moist. If the buds have been moist I dump them out on a screen to dry off and crisp back up. The smell is unreal, very spicy and no detectable hay smell.

Even after 7 to 10 days hanging when I put into jars the RH can get up into the 80% rh in just a few hrs

I for sure need some little hygrometers, but with 23 quart jars it would cost way too much. I'm using the one I used for growing placed in one jar to get a feel for how they are, but I'm sure the humidity varies jar to jar. Each jar has about an ounce of material so hopefully the RH will be similar among the different jars.
I appreciate your input and suggestions. I know you had the best in mind when commenting, but maybe ask some questions first before making assumptions based on a single post.
There seems to be something about cold, dry conditions that really sap the moisture out of the bud.

If you had of left them to dry rather play with them in and out of jars they would get down to a stabilized RH faster (maybe back out of the jars only once or twice) will near zero chance of mould. Then into the cure stage.
You made a mistake in thinking 2 days is enough to dry them. That's OK, its your first rodeo but the dying and curing is the hardest and most important part. Its were quality is made or lost.
Boveda packs are useful for long term storage when used correctly.
I know I can come across as direct when typing, I'm a cranky old fart..lol.

For the last time I never said a 2 day dry is sufficient, in fact still drying along nicely going into day 6 now, right around 73% now and falling slowly temps kept low at 62-65 and aromas are statring mellow.

Each to their own way I spose. I'm to lazy to be mucking about to much.
I live in a place with low RH most the year as well, been in the low 30s most of this month.
I just hang em for 7 to 10 days, final dry trim and into jars for 24 hrs. If RH over 65-66% out into paper bags for 12 hrs then back into jars, that's usually good enough RH to wack in Boveda packs (62% two per ounce) and store away, if RH still a bit high paper bags again.
What you growing this round and how was the heat in the 4 x 4? Guessing your in Winter/Spring?

I live in Colorado, North of Denver, 30 minutes from the front range, growing altitude is almost a mile above sea level. And the winter is the only reason I was able to overdrive my light to 1150w, had condensation to deal with but being able to pull in below freezing air was enough to cool the sealed fixture and heat the building with the exhaust.
I did not want to over dry the buds, I put them into jars but didn't seal the lids. But that was after 2 days hanging with circulation fans (probably sped up the hang drying. And 1day of drying the buds after cutting them off the branch. I would much prefer to hang dry for the exact right amount but was afraid of overdrying. So this is how it's going, pain in the ass but I have the chance to check on them at will so I plan to sneak up on the correct moisture content to cure properly. Can always take moisture out but can't add it back in to get a proper cure.
This first round was some seed from dispensary ounces, next round will be seeds from Nirvana seeds, ak-48 and Aurora Indica.
I also can be gruff and short with my words, I don't have the excuse of age though thank you for posting, I do appreciate the advise.
