I’m having issues with the digital timers from Home Depot. I’ve been growing less than a year and I’ve had two digital multi programmable timers take a dump on me.

Can anyone make a suggestion that won’t brake the bank? Are the “dial “ timers any more reliable ?

Less electronic is always better for reliability.. i dont know your timer model.. but if thats the not case id look into outdoor timer or weatherproof timer.. your plant are probably in high humidity climate and unless its made for this environment it may be a reason for the failure.. but dont quote me on that.. i use a mechanical timer and althought not as precise as a digital I didnt run into any issues yet.. but ive started only a little over a month ago

It has 20 on/off settings 7 days
I used it for my cloner when i had temp issues for a cycle timer 42 min on 30 min off twenty times a day.
I also use them for an 800w light and a 480w no problems.

I am switching to all Sonoff timers as soon as they arrive, I will be able to control lights, temp and humidity.

The Defiant timers from Homedepot are horrible. I threw the second one away after I confirmed that is was going off and on randomly even though the random setting wasn’t chosen.
The first Defiant timer I bought ... it just died ... it had no output.
I have another now that I had purchased about 2montgs ago and now it is coming on too early, no telling how long it’s been doing this. Frustrating, because I knew something was up with my plants but couldn’t figure it out. Now I know

What kind of light are you timing. Hid requires a higher capacity timer.

I use Titan controllers for my hid.

I get away with a woods analog cheap timer from the hardware store for t-5’s.

I have had years of reliability with this type of analog timer.

This one from HD sucks IMO.

My light fixture is LED, I got up this morning to find the lights in my flower room on when they should’ve been off. I’ll be buying analog timers for now on I’ll look at the Titans also

I’m positive it’s nothing that I have done with the timers I know I had them set correctly and my light fixture with fans only draws 3 1/2 and

Those are what I used as well when I was running 120v for years with no issues

I've been using that timer ~4 years with no issues. Maybe the newer ones are sourced from a different company. I did put a relay in the circuit. The timer controls a coil on an ice cube relay rated at 15 amps. 4pdt so I paralleld all 4 contacts. Actually I have 2. No issues with either. I guess if one dies I'll stay away from the new ones. They do make some industrial rated ones but a bit expensive. I like the backup clock.

So far I have purchased three of the same timers and all three of them have been defective over a period of less than six months

Home Depot knows there’s a problem because they’ve been taking them back without a receipt

Only problem is this is a 15min/set timer. In a drip situation you need tighter timing.

What do you guys use for 220V?
Mine are all rated for 110 so I just set reminders on my phone and flip em manually.
