HLG did a good job marketing a Samsung LED on an aluminum board.

Samsung also sells their LED on an aluminum board...hlg just ripped off their idea
Lol. I guess that means Samsung ripped off countless others before that. That would be like saying every car manufacturers ripped off Ford.

Umm we are Samsung's OFFICIAL Horticulture Partner and our Boards will soon sport the SAMSUNG logo.

We designed our board and spent many thousands of dollars in development, testing, and samples. Defend the Chinese stealing intellectual property all you want but a straight rip off of our design is unethical as hell. If the shoe was on the other foot and you dumped your life savings into your passion and the Chinese just straight up ripped off your product once you fought and made it popular you would be an unhappy camper. Stop trying to justify theft because you want to save a few bucks. There is very very few Lm561C in China right now I know for a fact. Do us all a big favor and buy them and send them to a sphere and share the results.

Also there have been tons of requests to even put our name on the knock off boards. When these boards fail or don't perform optimally and the unsuspecting victim that bought the rip off board is dissatisfied it damages our name. We've already had a few people come to us with warranty issues that bought them elsewhere.

Based upon the logic that people use on rollitup, yes they would say the Samsung ripped off countless others as well.

I have a stack of QB120's I purchased from you, they work fine.

Samsung has invested millions into LED research, whats your point?

Will the logo have a hologram to prove its not fake?

I think that could be arranged and I sure as hell wouldn't print Samsung's logo on anything that I wasn't authorized to. Unlike ourselves Samsung has a team of lawyers just waiting for such things.

As I've said I've got no problem with other designs. I have a problem with direct copies and using our branding.

Not asking much honestly. Don't sell a direct knock off, don't call the car you sell a Mustang when it's not even a Ford. Call it a car or come up with your own name for it.

Using our design, company name, or branding is just someone trying to catch some sales off what we built nothing more.

With that I'm going to bed lol.

Okay...just clicked the ebay link....did not realize how they listed it.

Using your name and likeness to sell a knock off is not okay at all, that should be reported and pulled from ebay.

Vegas we all know everything on alibaba is fake....why would you want someone to spend less than a third on an LED board when they can pay 3x as much an order it from HLG?
you know nothing about this subject. you are mistaken but you are welcome to that view, but it is an opinion not fact. enjoy. HLG was made in China before they moved, not fake but you ate fake news. lol I know that, I do not know what you and "WE" know.

Fake? No. Suspect? Yes. Of lower quality? Likely (less copper). But that doesn't mean you can't buy a solid LM561C board on Alibaba, or from China at all. People on both sides of the argument should just be honest about it - it's neither the landmine-ridden wasteland, nor the warm and fuzzy Utopia that (some) folks make it out to be.
you get what you know. I have no problems with China, or Shenzhen, but I ave no bias towards anyone of any color or background. I believe people are biased towards a particular company which I will NOT name or they are biased against Asian's as I see a lot of China bashing, they have a name for that where I come from, that Bias towards people of color. I designed and ordered much from Shenzhen. I am quite happy, I am not trying to sell for anyone, but American's are just as bad at business as others. I had a company here in Ameria will remain nameless they sold me a light meter, Quantum, it had a bad connector, I returned it with RMA six months later nothing. I write and threaten them and they send me a brand new meter stating my product was lost.

Point being shite happens and it is not a Chinese thing, it is what it is, America moved their corporations to China not the other way around, blame America for this not the Chinese.

Yes we made our boards in China at one time. The point being is that the company that is selling the knock offs we never manufactured with. Everyone thinks they know who our CM in China is but they don't. Some claim they are our CM that aren't. Also our CM is very professional. They are in NDA with us. I don't believe they sell our design to anyone else. It's other Chinese companies that I will not name those who are knocking off our boards.

Hey bro I think you missunderstood me, I never said ripp off. I said Inspired.

Show me a light that was designed exactly like the quantum boards with the same size, shape and diodes soldered in series & parallel before HLG made them.

ripping off some one is when you steal their work. im sure if these companies ripping off quantum boards would take the time to design their own size, shape & name then HLG wouldnt give two shits.. U feel me?

The old 3 watt blurples used a metal single sided board. A lot of vhf uhf designs are like this. Copper deposited on aluminum. Some rated for 20 amps worth of copper. It's why companies manufacture over seas. If buyers wish to buy US products that's their choice. Not much a downside except a slightly higher price. I remember back in the Microsoft dos days the phrase " Nobody ever gets fired for buying IBM. But clones...". Support and being sure you are getting the product you are paying for.

Actually not really. The PC division yes. And yes PC's aren't quite the same. No theory. This statement came from an IT guy over a company that made aircraft engines. They bought IBM PC's. No clones. No winders yet. Dos 2 to 3. If they had integration problems between X windows workstations etc. They would help resolve the problems. Things are a bit different now.

Is a laptop no longer considered an PC in the eyes of IBM? Isn't the thinkpad still standard issue for corporate america.
