My lights aren’t too close are they?

I felt that the seedlings sitting on the floor of the tent wasnt the best idea so I put them on a TV tray under the light - its 15 inches between the TV tray and the light (not a lot of upward mobility left - maybe 4 inches). That’s not too close is it? Its a MaxBloom 400w X4 and does have dimmer switches for both veg and bloom (though I have asolutely NO IDEA how or when to use those *lol*).

Am I good to go?

that's the cobs? 15 inches should be fine.. And I'm thinking if you go to the L.e.d.(section) forum you may get better info on distance and plant care...

Put your hand just above your plant. If you can't hold it there comfortably for 30 sec. Raise it up.

At 100% and 15” I can hold my hand there for quite a while (and yup, its a COB LED)

Depending on the make and model, there's a lot of difference in operating different LED grow lights, but if you weren't given any instructions with the light, here's a quick reference guide:

1W Bulbs at least 12" (30cm)
3W or 5W Bulbs at least 18" (45cm)
High Wattage (300W+) up to 30" (76cm) or more

I concur. I haven't looked at the detailed specs for your light, but you need to raise it up to at least 24" until you can check with your manufacturer, especially if your using it with seedlings. The "hold your hand under the light for 30 seconds" test works if your problem is heat, but that doesn't sound like your concern but rather the burn from *light intensity*. This is NOT the same animal as heat burn, and LEDs in the hands of those unfamiliar with them is a recipe for a toasted canopy. Check the docs from the manufacturer. I would be surprised if they don't give specific recommendations for distance from the canopy at the various stages of the grow cycle.

Again, the pic above is the full extent of the instructions that came with the light. And I cant find anytting more detailed anywhere

I know the lights in my AeroGardens for herbs stay super close - like 2-3 inches above. Then again those are only 45 watts - this grow LED is 400 watts

Mine have started out at 24 inches for some time granted the lights I use in my baby room are pure blue spectrum lights that I use to use on my reef tanks. The others the only way they get a manual is if I write one lol.i was simply letting her know what I keep mine at.

I think the light is actually only 200w real draw. Its not a 400w light.

Found this OP, You might find interesting. And it does appear to be a 200w real. I'm not up on LED stuff so I could be wrong.
