Flip this Scrog?

Hey riu,

Have 2 critical mass 75 days in vege about to flip to 12/12. I installed the scrog about 4 days ago and supercropped the canopys outwards from center. Plants were topped early on.

Seems i have two phenos, one tall stretchy one and one shorter bushy one.

Have been retucking colas on the tall pheno daily and its filling out the screen nicely but havent had enough verticle growth on the bushy one to see anything other than it getting denser in the center. Concerned that it is too tightly packed and not filling the scrog properly.

I know that majority of people say trim everything under the scrog however both people i know with first hand experience say dont trim anything.

Any advice on what to do with the bushy one one would be great. Pretty happy with the progression on the taller one.

I’m curious as to why you and the experienced growers wouldn’t trim stuff below the canopy? Never did a scrog so I can’t help you with your question, but I can tell you from my experience with peach trees that trimming the bottoms and junk branches my peaches get massive. And with a scrog you’ll lower your humidity quite a bit if you do trim

With a small scrog like this it isnt necessary to trim underneath the canopy. And even with bigger scrogs it isnt critical as long as there is good air movement.

Also, it might be worth pointing out that trimming underneath isn't going to help anything up top. The idea that trimming below the canopy will Direct Energy to growing bigger tops is a myth. If it were true then all those little popcorn nuggets that you trim off the stalk and lower branches wouldn't grow back every time

They way its been explained to me is that even if a large fan leaf is blocking a bud site that the enerygy photosythesised by that leaf will be far greater than that by the small leaves of the bud site. Coupled with the stress of the trim it does not necessarily encourage growth and can actualy slow it.

I lollipopped my last lot following all the online recommendations and lost them all to hermies. Not sure if it was the genes, the stress of lollipop or the high temp that caused it but i want to eliminate any factors i can this run.

I always wondered how people in vids have these naked af lower branches. Even when i lollipopped the fluff was back within days. Seems like it would be a constant battle to try amd keep umder the screen bare.

I guess my only real concern is the density of the bushy one, buds touching, lack of airflow etc. Hopefully the 12/12 stretch will help it fill in the screen.

Its a pain and does need constant attention because of how fast it grows back. When I had height restrictions I grew like this for a couple years. Honestly hated it but it did work to solve that particular problem.

Hated trimming harvest though. Tons of small to medium colas everywhere. I preferred fat ones with a few almost as fat ones around it and everything below that went into the washing machine to be extracted. Larf from a scrog is the worst to trim imo.

Don't know if you can see my lollipoping; this is blueberry and she I see a clone from my outdoor plant in April 2017. She's almost a year old lol

It took about 2 months before she stopped trying to grow on her lower branches lol now she's almost ready for scrog
