Duct fan covers

Hey guys, I'm trying to get back into the hobby after quite a few years. I have an old play house that I'm trying to conversation to a grow "cabin". I'm having some issues controlling temps inside with my 1000w HPS. I bought an 8" axial duct fan to push the hot air out but I think I'm gonna need to grab another fan to use as an inlet. I have the current fan mounted straight up to the wall so the fan is exposed on the outside and LOTS of light comes in through the opening.

This isn't a huge issue currently as I'm still vegging and the existing fan is mounted up high. However the new fan will obviously be mounted down low and I'm worried about my animals or pests coming into contact with the fan.

I was wondering if any of you fine growers could recommend a cover of sorts for the existing fan and future fan that would limit light and keep animals/pests away from the blades. I haven't bought the inlet fan yet but I'm leaning towards the same 8" ipower axial fan off of Amazon. Any input or recommendations are highly appreciated.

TIA

Look up how to build light proof vents

Basically a box that has 3 90 degree turns in it
If you need i can draw a pic

Is smell going to be an issue?
Smell is a non issue, I'm really just worried about light leaks and animals/pests getting chopped up by the fan. Looking into light proof vents but haven't seen what you describe just yet.

Give me a sec ill draw it up

Super simple and it works albeit a little bulky

But it is light proof

Basically light wont go around corners and it takes about 3 bends to kill the light .

Plus i painted the inside with flat black :)

The same thing can be done with pvc or metal ducting but they are more expensive then throwing some wood together.

Another option is light proof vents for dark rooms and photography

These are a nice way to go i just didnt want to wait for them cause the size i wanted was back orderd

They are not too expensive either

You'd pull more air using both fans as exhausts, and then having big passive intake holes. But that doesn't help you with the light leak thing.
I bought a few square meters of this black filter stuff for airconditioners, sort of a spongey sparse fabric.
I zip-tied pieces tightly over each end of a very short piece of duct.
I made two of these and placed them in my tent's bottom vent ports.
This has greatly increased my passive intake size, and blocks light AND dust effectively :)

You wouldn't have a link to this magical black filter by any chance would you?
