maximizing growth per space

if i have a 8x8 foot room, what would i need to figure out what maximum overall yield requires? does it depend on SOG/SCROG? is there a way to determine overall yield per sqft (max) or other figures to know?

Not sure about max, but to stay grounded, a rule of thumb is a LB per 4'x4'. That was drilled in my head by the grow boss on YouTube...lol. And then my experience was when I grew in a 3'x5' space (within 1sf of a 4'x4', I could grow 6 plants in 5 gal pots and get 2.5-3 oz each (average 16.5oz) or 4 - 7 gals with room to spare and get 4 oz each. So I know it works, and probably could be exceeded. But it's good to stay grounded. 8x8 - 4 lbs, dial everything in, I bet that number could be doubled. 64sf x 50w/sf = 3200watts commonly known achievable grams per Watt is 1gram per Watt, 3200 grams is 7.14lbs. :peace:

Max yield per year is SOG
1gal 6” pots. Fit 4 plants per sq foot.
Veg clones 2 wks.
If have a seperate clone n veg room you can stagger say 60 clones at a time by 2 weeks. Then you will harvest every 2-3weeks.
Pull 15-28g/plant depending on lights, nutes, etc..View attachment 4079448
Sweet setup. I was thinking of doing that but on a much smaller scale in my 4x3. Looking at dutch leach trays, they hold a 1 gal perfectly and it makes runoff easy to get rid of. Have you tried using 1 gal fabric pots or do you prefer plastic?

All enviro things being dialled in.... it is mainly strain, sq ft and light that dictates yield. The technique (scrog or sog) is less of a conaideration in terms of yield and is more of a consideration when it comes to time and amount/type of work.

I can usually squeek out 3 lbs in my 5x9 space with 2x1000w hid. It doesnt matter if i have 4 plants scrogged way out or 4 big plants uner each 1000 or 12 small ones under each 1000.

With 4 scrogged plants i spend less time mixing nutes/water but spend a lot of time stripping unxer the net and weaving....etc...

Awesome, entire room sog? How do you walk in there to trim and maintain

I like your mathematical approach, I'm very similar. You using hps? Heard good led can exceed the 1g/w limit

I had been using a 1000w HPS dimmed to 750 in a Dominator XXXL hood. Saw all the frosty as shit pics of bud under CMH and COB I decided to modify. I got a 315 CMH kit and modded my hood for two bulbs. 315w CMH, 400w HPS. I'll see how this works. Test run is starting in 2 Weeks, my Blue Cheese is almost ready to go. So I'm running about 48w/sf.

why dim? is it just not enough plants/area to throw under the light? :P

yeah was just clarifying. im sure youre just following the 50-75w/sqft rule for hps right?

(newbie here)
Yeah, to some degree, now I use lux as my guide with a $20 meter. If you can manage heat and keep the light a little closer, maintain coverage, than you can reduce usage a small degree.
