Funny thing is all the people on here talking craft and micro grows will still need in upwards of 250,000-400,000 for start up in BC,more in Ontario.

I bet a guy could get growing for under a 100K. Even at $400K it's still cheaper than the average mortgage in some areas. Definitely doable.

You could easily do it. The land is the toughest part. Start small with something expandable. Hell you could do it for around half that.
Prefab steel outbuilding, with a few diff interior designs depending on needs. Hell prefab greenhouse could do it for 250-300k and expand from there in the future.
Start small and work up. That way ya dont fuck yourself with massive overhead like LPs

Not a chance in hell you could buy land and build on it for under a million...not in ON. I went down that rabbit hole when the MMPR was rolled out. Dont forget your paying overhead until HC licenses you to sell your product. You also have to grow a couple crops first before that happens. Theres a small LP 10 min from where I live. They're leasing an old shitty warehouse (50k sqft) and they predict 5 million by the time they're fully licensed....google Abba Medix.

It's going to depend on the definition of craft grower vs. LP. If Abba Medix is attempting to license under the licensed producer scenario, it stands to reason his startup cost would be far greater than someone growing on a much smaller scale. A guy could lease a barn on agricultural land and be in business.

Ive looked into for quite awhile. Its doable in ON. Dont forget its a HUGE province. Land is dirt cheap if you know where to look so why lease a building?. Im also not talking current LPs, Im talking micro growers once legal arrives. Start small then expand. Perpetual grow helps get the first few crops out of the way. Fuck if I had 5 million Id be running light dep greenhouses. Or a small indoor and a couple greenhouses

meh it’s doable, take a look at Vegas. They dry wall a few rooms for prep and offices the rest is a warehouse hanging hundreds of lights. Three hundred grand and your operational the wait time will be the frustrating part. Owners of my warehouse are already on board to give me a vendor mortgage on a property I choose closer to home at 9%.

I hear ya but I really dont think HC is gonna relax the regulations for the little guy. So yes it will be cheaper due to the scale...security and such will still be required and its not cheap.

My 1000 sqft unit cost 1200 a month and thats half the normal rate. Tag on another grand a month for power. 25k for gear and build out....and that's a 16kw op (2 x 8kw flower rooms)

Maybe way up north not around the GTA...I wont live anywhere the strippers dont have a full set of teeth or weigh more than I do.

I'm the opposite - I wouldn't live within 200 miles of the GTA. I was there in the fall for the 1st time in 35 years and it didn't take long to confirm this little island is where I belong. lol
