So I can't find my most recent couple stubs, been throwing them away lately but I found my stub from 11/26. I'm rounding to the nearest hundred dollars, I do t know if its possible but if it is, i dont need some hacker plugging all the numbers in and figuring out who I am. At that point I had grossed 48,900, net 32,400. Fed tax was at 8,000, state was at 2,300 and FICA was at 3,700. Along with 1,900 in my "vacation account" a work place "benefit" that pulls i believe 2% from our checks weekly. So that adds to roughly 15,900 taken from net. Which is pretty close to gross, so that's good. Now what about having such high amount of state and fed tax being taken out, and then getting so little back at the end of the year, does that sound right? Last year I believe combined it was around 10k taken in taxes, I got a fed refund of about $1200 and owed state 16 bucks. And I claim "0" on my tax papers for work so I'm suppose to be getting a bigger return. I'd hate to see what it would be like if I claimed "1".

The US government is facing a total shutdown, starting tonight at midnight, if a bipartisan deal cannot be reached on the status of DACA.

Of course the Republican led House and Senate will blame the Democrats if this occurs, and rightfully so, because this is what a true Democracy looks like.

If the Republicans have the votes needed, and they are in the majority, then vote and pass your fucked up legislation.

But they don't have the votes needed, even on their side, so shut the fuck up and blame yourselves

The Democrats failed to stop that tax bill, which was a give away to the corporations and the wealthy, while giving crumbs to the rest of the country, so now is the time to say enough is enough, and stand up for what is right, and that is to let the over 700,000 Dreamers stay in this country, and not face deportation to countries they never knew.

That is the right thing to do, and the Democrats have a moral obligation too make sure it happens

The person that should be blamed is Trump, with his insistence on tying his $18 billion "Great wall, a really great wall" to the bill, a wall that he insists to this day will be paid for by Mexico, (like that will ever happen)

So, what do you think?

Let the government shut down in support of the Dreamers, or give Trump his fucking wall, and let it operate normally.
Lots of people say the tax bill gives crumbs to the people...

But...how is it funded?

I understand that anyone who takes a position with the federal government in a non-essential capacity does so freely. No one forces them. Given that government shutdowns have happened before, it seems to go with the territory. You want me to cry for folks getting a paid vacation? Spare me.
Really? What is your job?

It just occurred to me that you are probably a prick.

I make stuff and sell stuff, none of it related to marijuana, that's just a hobby. Sometimes people don't buy my stuff and I don't get paid. I toil to make new stuff they do want to buy. If I'm lucky and they like my stuff, I make money. That's how it works for me. Seems fair enough.

Your opinion of me speaks to you, not me.:bigjoint:

The Wall in exchange for DACA. GOP got the Wall but Dems didn't get DACA in return.

SHUT IT DOWN!!!!:finger:

Your numbers are coming out close to right. FED at 18%. FICA at 7.7 % combing both SS and Medicare. Did not include the 1900 in vac account not sure if thats before or after.
But your numbers are close to what you should be paying. Welcome to the real world. Have kids and get married and obtain so you can start claiming itemized instead of the standard deduction.

Awesome, thanks for taking the time to clarify that for me. My tax guy told me about the IRA tax credit thing last year. I'll probably start one before too long. It is what it is I guess.

Well since you are the sort of person that finds it comforting when millions of people can't pay their mortgage or feed their kids, I am not surprised that people don't seem to like your "stuff". Maybe the fact that you are a prick is coming out in your work.

Or he could buy a house. Oh wait, that doesn't work anymore.
