Fan Leaf removal/trimming advice

Im currently growing 4 white widow autoflowers and i was wondering if it would be a bad idea to trim fan leaves on an auto flower. Id rather not stunt them if i can avoid it. But id really like to get more light to the lower part of the plant. Plan in adding a trillis but plants still pretty short

I wouldn't worry about light penetration until you are flowering. Then it might be better to tuck leaves out if the way.

I pruned a photo plant at 12/12 flip, it took 4 or 5 weeks to start flowering, as it vegged all that growth back that I trimmed. Could be genetics? I don't know.

If you had that happen with your autos, you would harvest little because they have a predetermined finish date in their genetics.

I really wanted to top my autos also but everywhere I've been reading everyone advises against it...this is my first grow in about 6 years and I'm just super nervous about fuckung my plants up...lol

Never again will I top a auto. Try tucking the leaves instead of cutting them. The only leaves I've cut off my Autos were dead or dying leaves on the bottom.

Tuck and ponytail if you feel the need to open her up a bit. Dont cut anything off.

Thanks a lot. She been on a mostly water diet. Gave nutes twice. At start of stretch and at the end.

Yeah i haven't given my plants any nutes yet but im using a "hot" soil so i probably wont start nutes until the beginning of flower

Thad b perfect for doing some ponytailing. Let the side branches go a few days while doing some LST to them to pull em down and out some more and put the net over her when ur ready to take it all off. I think she should fill in nice and thick. Good luck man!!!

I have some Green Crack autos going and was wondering what anyone does in this situation. The bottom branches start right at soil level. Should I leave those first branches?

I would leave them for now. Too early and no obvious issues to bother at this stage.

After the pre flower stage / stretch which will be done in the next 3-4 weeks I reckon, you may want to make some pruning decisions, although consensus is not to with autos.

I didn't want to trim my skunk#1 auto at all but ended up doing so twice. First time couple weeks into flower as she had so much foliage and wanted to increase light penetration and was getting issues with leaf sweating on each other.

second time during a flush a week ago because having some issues with leafs and thinking nute lock out and I prefer to remove a dying / diseased leaf than have the plant waste energy on it.

I've only got approx 20 days left so will leave her alone now, get one more bloom and boost feed in next couple days then flush until chop

I trimmed my autoflower, but only at the bottom where it got so bushy in there I could hardly get my watering spout in there to water. Also, the bottom leaves and branches I trimmed (some trying to spout buds) weren't getting any light and I'm not about to trim the vital upper leaves to let more light into the the bottom area where growth exploded at the bottom main stalk.

Sorry for the double pic post. They're working on it. Bubblegum Kush Autoflower. LED-CFL.

Autoflowers grow amazingly fast with nice fat leaves (during their first 30 days), but then the leaf width and growth slows down somewhat at the autoflower stage (all pot plants do). This autoflower strains seems to be growing longer and thicker robust stems, but the buds just keep getting more hairy, not more dense. Optimum conditions attempted. Still early yet...32 days.
I'm LST'ing these in flower stage. There wasn't really enough growth to train in the veg stage.

I would just tie her down and bend her open trellis is the same method but if I don’t have a trellis just use rubber band or paper clips cheaper that way I went to a store and bought a pack of rubber bands for a 1$ good investment a trellis is good cuz I can reuse it a lot to to each is own cheers good luck !
